Welcome Home Tender 3833!

Tender 3833 came home tonight after being assigned 28 straight days on the Paradise fire in the Walla Walla Watershed.

Prior to that assignment it was only home 2 days from the Selahiken Fire in Okanogan County.

T3833 and Dist 8 members have been on fire assignment staying at fire camps for 42 of the last 44 days, and over 60 days since June 1st. During that time it is estimated to have pumped over 300,000 gallons of water on fires. We are hoping she is home for a good rest.

A quick update on where your Fire District #8 members have been assisting on fires in Washington. Below is a list of Mobilization fires that we have responded too.

Some are Initial Attack (IA) which is our volunteers assisting on fires in our region and are usually 12 to 24 hours assignment.

Others, are State Mobilization where we send one of our water tenders as part of the Southeastern Washington Strike Team usually with FF Tim Daves as operator and can be numerous day assignment throughout Washington.

The State pays the district for its use and operation of equipment. We use those funds to upgrade equipment and facilities. We always believe in assisting our neighbors when needed as they have assisted us in the past. The District always has equipment and firefighters left in the district to handle emergencies. This list does not include local fires we have responded to unless they went to state mobilization.

ADVISORY NOTICE ELEVATED TO LEVEL 1 EVACUATION – BE READY

Walla Walla, WA – Effective immediately the advisory notice for the Klicker Mountain area north toward Biscuit Ridge and east toward the Walla Walla / Columbia County border has been elevated to a Level 1 “Be Ready” evacuation area. The area includes portions of Klicker Mountain and Biscuit Ridge areas and is generally bounded by the surrounding ridge lines, roads, and drainages shown on the map. This is being done out of an abundance of caution in relation to the Paradise Fire given the restricted access and terrain of the area. Residents in this area are asked to continue yielding the right-of-way to emergency equipment, avoid parking vehicles, trailers, or equipment on roadsides.

Additional information regarding all evacuation levels can be found here: https://www.wwcowa.gov/government/emergency_management/evacuation.php

Updates and information about the Paradise Fire can be found here: https://www.facebook.com/people/Paradise-Hagen-and-Horse-Ridge-Fire-Information/61592064000400/

Citizens are requested not to call 911 unless a serious situation or life-threatening emergency exists. Walla Walla County Emergency Coordination Center will provide updated information to our Facebook account www.facebook.com/wallawallaem and our webpage www.wwemd.info as it becomes available.
