Tonight at The Big Picture Theater & Café! We hope you join us in taking the Attitude of Gratitude Pledge🌲☀️🏞️

Join conservation and recreation organizations from around the Valley to kick off the newly developed Attitude of Gratitude code of ethics, a shared pledge to care for the trails, lands, farms, and neighbors that make the Mad River Valley so special! 🌳

Take the pledge, meet other outdoor enthusiasts, and learn about different conservation and recreation initiatives in the Valley.

Together, we will continue to build a culture of respect, stewardship, and gratitude for the landscape we love!

Interested in learning more about the work and initiatives of the Mad River Valley Planning District (MRVPD)?

The MRVPD Steering Committee meets monthly, and meetings are open to the public. Meetings are typically held on the third Thursday of each month at 7:00 PM.

Upcoming Meetings:

➡May 14, 2026
The next Steering Committee meeting will take place at 7:00 PM in the conference room at the Waitsfield Town Offices. Chad McGann, Municipal Roads General Permit (MRGP) Coordinator for the State of Vermont, will present on the MRGP program and strategies municipalities can use to mitigate stormwater-related erosion and damage to local roads.

➡June 18, 2026
Alex Weinhagen of the Vermont Land Use Review Board will present on Act 181 and its implications for communities and land use planning in Vermont.

➡Later this summer
Tri-Valley Transit will provide an update on the transition from Green Mountain Transit (GMT) and discuss the future of Mad Bus service in the Valley.

Share your perspective through the MRV Community Wellbeing Survey. The Wellbeing Survey gives residents a chance to share what the MRV is doing well – and how we can do better. Results help inform community conversations, priorities, and planning efforts across the Valley.

In 2024:
🌿 Physical Environment remained the highest-rated domain
📈 Education & Culture saw the greatest improvement
📉 Governance experienced the largest decline

Your voice matters! In 2024, nearly 600 residents responded to the survey, and this year we’re hoping to grow that number. Please consider sharing the survey with your MRV friends and family.

How are you doing? The Planning District wants to know! 💭

Residents of Waitsfield, Fayston, and Warren are invited to check in with the Mad River Valley Planning District and share their perspective on life in the Valley by taking the fourth Community Wellbeing Survey.

The Wellbeing Survey is a tool to help our community better understand how the MRV’s people, economy, and environment are doing. Question topics include life satisfaction, mental and physical health, community vitality, social connectedness, access to recreation, and material wellbeing.
