Joslin Hill Road Closure - June 16

In preparation for upcoming paving on Joslin Hill Road, and as part of the Town's ongoing work to plan for extreme weather events, Joslin Hill Road will be closed on Tuesday, June 16, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The closure will allow crews to replace an existing culvert with one sized to better handle heavy rain and high water.

Please plan to use a detour that day. We truly appreciate the community's patience and support as we carry out this work, which will help protect the road and reduce the risk of washouts in future storms.
The closure specifically will be just down hill from Strong Road.

If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to me at [email protected].

Thanks and peace,
York and the Waitsfield Road Crew

Notice of Hydrant Flushing

The Waitsfield Community Water System tank inspection and cleaning will take place on June 8th. Starting June 9th, 2026, the water system operator will be conducting the annual flushing of the water system hydrants and valve exercising. Annual flushing of hydrants is necessary as an important water system preventive maintenance activity. Flushing maintains the integrity of the water system infrastructure and allows the system to continue providing the highest quality of water to service users. Citizens may observe large volumes of water being released. The system will be chlorinated at a low-level chlorine residual from Monday, June 1st, to Monday, June 8th, 2026.

INFRASTRUCTURE SUMMIT

Tuesday, February 17th • 6:00 PM
Village Meeting House at 4355 Main Street Waitsfield

The Waitsfield Selectboard invites all residents, business owners, and community members to an Infrastructure Summit to discuss major needs and long-term investments shaping the future of our town. Light refreshments will be served, and we hope you’ll join us in this important conversation.

Topics will include:
• Current Town Infrastructure
An overview of Waitsfield’s bridges, town garage (possible bond vote in November), fire station, bridges and culverts, and other critical assets. We’ll review existing challenges, deferred maintenance, and priority areas needing attention.
• Wastewater
A discussion of the public health, environmental, and economic benefits of wastewater infrastructure—and how it can support community vitality and future housing opportunities.
• Local Option Tax

An explanation of how a local option tax works and how it could help address Waitsfield’s long-term infrastructure needs. We’ll walk through the types of challenges the Town is facing and discuss potential allocations under consideration, including support for:
o Bridge & Culvert
o Road paving
o Hazard mitigation and disaster recovery
o Fire department facilities
o Road department facilities
o Wastewater

These areas reflect the ongoing strains on the Town’s infrastructure and the kinds of investments required to maintain community safety, mobility, and resilience.

This is a chance for community members to learn, ask questions, and help shape the path forward.

All are welcome.
