To all of our friends, supporters, and followers - We are very excited to announce that the Stony Hill Rural Fire Department and the Bay Leaf Volunteer Fire Department are planning to consolidate effective on July 1st, 2017; to form the Northern Wake Fire Department.

This effort has been a long time in the making and has been a collective effort by members and staff from both organizations over the past two years. Most important to recognize is our collective histories as rural fire departments and our shared organizational values that have driven this initiative from the start. Both Stony Hill and Bay Leaf have closely aligned standards related to service delivery and combining forces creates an environment where even greater success may occur. We will continue to operate upon the foundational beliefs that formed both of our great organizations many years ago... to be a community based fire department of and for our communities and residents! Our history is important to us!

To all of our current and past FD members and community supporters... our success is directly attributed to your hard work and drive, building Stony Hill FD over the past 59 years. This change is not viewed as an "end" at all, but as a continuation into a new era of community service. Our future is going to be even more exciting and successful as we definitely have the "best of the best" in both organizations! Don't worry... the new organization will consist of the same old faces; however there will also be many new ones there to assist too!

In all, our initiative, effort, and results are based upon these four vision statements that have guided us to arrive at "Northern Wake FD:"

* Be an organization that improves and expands its services to the citizens.

* Be an organization that people desire to be associated and/or involved with.

* Be an organization that serves as a model to others in our discipline/field.

* Be an organization that is willing to take appropriate risks in order to pioneer new ideas and ideals.

The Board of Directors, Officers, and Members of both departments are very excited about this new opportunity! Stay posted for more informational releases about the Northern Wake Fire Department from the soon to be released FB and web pages!! www.northernwakefire.org

Proudly serving the residents and visitors of northern Wake County, North Carolina.

On May 23, 2017 an EF1 tornado struck our beautiful town of Autryville and our fire department. It destroyed all of our fleet at the fire station minus one apparatus. It also ripped the roof off our building and caused substantial damage to the remaining part of the building. We were blessed,...
