It is with heavy hearts, that we announce the passing of our brother Firefighter First Class, Austin Smith. Austin passed away today and will be greatly missed by all.

Words cannot describe the kind of person Austin was or the legacy he will leave behind. He will be remembered for his one-of-a-kind personality and dedicated work ethic. He impacted many lives during his tenure at the Wake Forest Fire Department that will certainly last a lifetime. He gave one hundred percent and then some in everything he did, and motivated others to do the same.

Pre arrival photo from a citizen of a house fire this evening in Wake Forest. Engine 5 arrived and secured a secondary hydrant for exposure protection and assisted with defensive operations.

Engine 5 was alerted with surrounding units for a house on fire in the area of Forestville Rd. In WF. Communications receiving multiple calls for a vacant house fully involved. Engine 5 arrived 2nd due and went to work pulling a 2nd line to assist fire attack.
