So proud of our WMHS Engineering Design & Development students who presented their final capstone projects to an audience of school and district administration as well as community leaders this morning. These seniors have worked all year to design and develop an original solution to a well-defined and justified open-ended problem by applying an engineering design process.

The presentations demonstrated the students' understanding of the design process and offered creative and effective solutions to a variety of problems, ranging from parking at the high school to lower body muscle pains. Kudos to this group for their hard work, to their teacher Ms. Catherine Cameron for her work to guide and support student-driven, authentic learning, and to the Wakefield Educational Foundation for their continued support!

Honors and CP Anatomy and Physiology students are zooming in to a live heart surgery facilitated by trained museum educators from the Museum of Science and Industry Chicago. This presentation provides students with an opportunity to talk to the surgical team, learn about heart health, and find out about medical careers.

Congrats to our Galvin Science Olympiad kids and their teacher leaders Mr. Gorski & Ms. Foy. It was great hearing how excited these kids were to speak about this program to School Committee tonight and to hear them promote participation for more Galvin students in case anyone is looking for something for your kid to do. There must be some proud parents out there for the parents of these "nerds" (thanks to 7th grader and Science Olympiad participant Nathaniel Chines for this quoted sound bite).
