I want to take this opportunity to provide you with a little information regarding my education, professional experience, service to the Town of Wakefield, as well as some tidbits about who I am. I am currently the Chairman of the Wakefield Board of Assessors. The Wakefield Board of Assessors is responsible for assessing all commercial, industrial, residential, and personal property values in Wake
field for the purpose of taxation. I was elected to this board in 2020 during the COVID pandemic and subsequently re-elected in 2023. I had served previously on the Wakefield Board of Assessors from 2001 to 2004 and from 1995 to 1997. As Chairman, and as a member of the Wakefield Board of Assessors, I have strived to be an independent voice and advocate for Wakefield taxpayers, senior citizens, veterans, and those who need (and deserve) the maximum tax relief allowable under law. Professionally, I have worked for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts since 1992 and have 26 years of experience in state and federal program administration with both the MassHire Department of Career Services and the Department of Unemployment Assistance. I have been a union steward for the National Association of Government Employees (NAGE) for the past 13 years. I am a 1987 graduate of Salem State College (now Salem State University) where I received my Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree with honors. I am a proud member of the Wakefield High School Class of 1983. Prior to that, I attended the Wakefield Junior High School, the Atwell School, and Greenwood's Yeuell School. I am a longtime resident (40+ years) of the West Side and Greenwood neighborhoods of Wakefield. My parents bought their first home in Greenwood in 1964. Over the past 30 years, I have had the opportunity to visit almost every home in Wakefield at least three times as a candidate for public office or for other candidates for public office. I am of Italian heritage. My grandfather, on my father's side, came to this country from the island of Lipari, which is located off the northern coast of Sicily in southern Italy. My other grandparents had family roots hailing from Ireland, England, France, and Germany. I am happily engaged to my fiancé "Boo". We have been together for over 7 years and live on Avon Street, not far from the Beebe Library. We both love Italian food. So odds are pretty good that you will run into us at one of the several great Italian restaurants in Wakefield. I am a lifelong student of American presidential, political, and economic history. My "small library" contains over 150 books on these and other historical topics. And last, but not least. Unbeknownst to a lot of people, I am an advanced downhill skier who has traveled to and skied some of the finest and most challenging mountains in Vermont, New Hampshire, Maine, New York, Colorado, Utah, Nevada, and British Columbia, Canada.
