The Friends of Beebe Library will have its ANNUAL MEETING on Thursday, June 11 at 7 Pm in the lecture hall at the Beebe Library. You are welcome to attend, whether or not you are a Member of the Friends. It will be immediately followed by a regular Board meeting. If you are a member of the Friends, these documents will be sent to you via email, so be sure to check your spam folder. The Friends will be making the following materials available to the public in advance of the meeting via its website.

A list of books to bring you pleasure...what an interesting idea. We must have offered at least half of these titles at our Book Sale earlier this month, and hope to have a number of them at our booth at the Festival by the Lake. If you're an avid reader, you're probably familiar with quite a few of these books. Which have you enjoyed?

We hope that you've had a minute or two to sit down in a comfy chair and start reading the books you purchased at the Book Sale last week. If you realize you didn't buy enough, or you missed coming to the sale entirely, we will be happy to welcome you to part deux on Sunday, June 14, from 10-4 on the Wakefield Common. The Friends will have their blue topped tent set up, and will have a thousand or two books for you (we don't count them, but surely we'll have that many). Our spot is usually visible from Church St.

To those who volunteered at the Book Sale last week: one of you left a black jacket in the staff area (kitchen) and hasn't responded to the email sent out looking for its owner. It's now at Cindy's house; it's her size but she has enough coats, thank you. If you think it is yours, please send an email to [email protected] and describe it and what was embroidered on it.

The Annual Book Sale has ended, and somehow we still have books remaining. We’ll bring a selection of them, hundreds of books actually, to the Festival by the Lake on Sunday, June 13. See you then!

If you found out about our annual book sale by using BookSaleFinder.com, you may have seen another date listed (in June for us. That is not correct. Our only scheduled book sale is underway right now and ends at 2 pm today. Do NOT show up in June - no one will be there to welcome you, and nothing will be taking place. We have contacted the website to correct the error.

When? 9 am to 2 pm today (Saturday, May 16) is the last day of our annual book sale. What? Thousands of books from every genre. Where? 27 Cordis St, Wakefield (the old Hurd school). Why? Buying at the sale supports the Beebe Library. See you there!

It's amazing that we haven't sold out of books, considering the crowds during the first two days. Yes, folks bought a lot of books, but we had so many packed in boxes beneath the tables, that we've kept re-filling the table tops. So many great donations, many in like-new condition! We still have lots of boxes beneath in Fiction and in Children's; all the other tables are tightly packed with great selections. Huge, well-organized, and helpful volunteers present to assist you. Open today from 2pm-7pm and Saturday 9am-2pm, in the old red brick school building at 27 Cordis St (at the corner with Pleasant St.), in Wakefield.

Wow! The love of the community for our book sale is so gratifying to witness. The line to get in was just as long today as yesterday and the swarm of shoppers in fiction and the children’s section and history is huge!
