The 66th Honor Flight was yesterday, and what an incredible experience! There were 79 veterans on the flight, including two members of the Walcott Legion and two Blue Grass area residents. Fourteen people from the Blue Grass, Durant, and Walcott areas also served as guardians.

Yellow shirts are veterans, red shirts are bus captains, and blue shirts are guardians.

It was a 20-hour day and over 10,000 steps, but every minute was worth it. The memories, stories, and gratitude shared throughout the day were truly priceless.

If you're a veteran, please sign up! The next flight is in September 2026, and then Honor Flight will take a break until May/June 2027.

Guardians are always needed as well. There is a small donation to help cover the cost of the chartered flight, but it's a small price to pay for the opportunity to honor those who served our country.

A beloved member. RIP Larry, you will be missed.

Larry Lee Reiling, age 87, of Davenport, Iowa, formerly of Walcott, Iowa, passed away Wednesday, May 13, 2026, at Fieldstone of DeWitt. A visitation will be held from 400 - 600 p.m., Sunday, May 17, 2026 at Calvary Church of Walcott. A funeral service will be held at 1030 a.m.,

The QC Honor Flight is looking for Quad City–area veterans who served in 1990 or earlier to fill out an application to go on an Honor Flight.

If you’re reading this, you are either a veteran who qualifies or know a veteran who does. If enough veterans don’t apply, there may be no more Honor Flights—and we don’t want that to happen! Please consider filling out an application.

They are also looking for guardians to chaperone veterans on the flight. Guardians donate $400 to cover their expenses, but it’s a priceless honor to serve in this role.

QC Honor Flight also welcomes medical personnel (doctors, nurses, EMTs, EMS, etc.) to accompany the flight, in case any medical needs arise.
