This morning, we had the privilege of attending the Memorial Day Ceremony at the Municipal Building as we remembered and honored the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom.

While today may simply feel like a day off for some, we encourage everyone to take a moment to reflect on the true meaning of Memorial Day and remember those who gave everything in service to our country. 🇺🇸

We were also honored to attend the Veterans Dedication Ceremony at Bradley Park for Logan Hickey’s Eagle Scout Project. Logan’s hard work and dedication created a meaningful tribute to our veterans and our community. Thank you, Logan, for your outstanding effort and commitment to honoring those who served.

On Sunday, members conducted bailout training, completing multiple evolutions.
Bailout systems are a vital piece of protective equipment for firefighters that can help them escape a fire when other methods of departure are not possible. They can be used in a variety of situations, such as multi-story buildings, apartment complexes and office buildings.

We would like to shout out 3 members who recently completed all of the proper training to become interior members. Good job Brock, Anika and Anthony!

We are always looking for new members to help serve our community.
If you are interested in joining, send us a message or stop by our firehouse on drill night, Tuesdays at 7 pm. See less

On 5/8/26 at 10:49am we were called to a porch fire at 15 Riverview St. While responding 911 updated with a report of possible entrapment. Car 1 arrived on scene at 10:51 and immediately requested a second alarm. After speaking with a resident it was confirmed that everyone was out of the house. That resident was alerted to the fire when he saw a neighbor running down his driveway. Units on scene attempted to knock down the fire and advance hose lines inside the residence. Unfortunately, while trying to advance into the structure, the building started showing signs of potential collapse. Units were pulled out of the building before the roof collapsed and then the 1 side of the house also collapsed. Exterior operations continued throughout the day until all units were clear of the fire at 7:26 pm.

There are so many people to thank on a large incident like this. On scene along with us we had the Montgomery Fire Department, Coldenham Fire Department, City of Newburgh Fire Department, Maybrook Fire Department, Pine Bush Fire Department, Vails Gate Fire Department, Orange Lake Fire Department, Washingtonville Fire Department 36-12, 36-6, 36-1, the Orange County Fire Investigation Team, Walden Police Department, Orange County Sheriff's Office, State Police, Walden DPW, Walden Building Department, Town of Montgomery EMS, Wallkill Volunteer Ambulance Corp., Pine Bush Ambulance, Greenville Ambulance, Town of Newburgh EMS, and Town of Wallkill EMS, and Orange County EMS Coordinators (EMS-1 and EMS-2). We would also like to thank the Walden Elementary School who had staff help with the scene and also dropped off some food for everyone.

Fortunately, all residents were able to escape the house with no injuries. There were three firefighters that were transported to the hospital with non life threatening situations and one additional firefighter that sustained minor injuries that was treated on scene and continued with their efforts to contain the blaze.

We are saddened to see the total destruction of the home and wish all the best to the family in their recovery. There has been a GoFundMe set up to assist them if you wish to help out.

Today our members went to the Orange County Fire Training Center with members from Bullville, Coldenham, Maybrook, Montgomery, and 36-12 for live fire training. In just a few hours we were able to complete five different fire evolutions to simulate working at a structure fire. A big thank you to the staff at the training center for letting us come and to Town of Montgomery Ambulance for standing by on site in case we needed anything.
