07:38hrs Walden and Cabot fire were dispatched to Noyestar road for a chimney fire.

First arriving units found smoke and flames coming from the top of the chimney. Firefighters laddered the roof and dropped a weight to clear the blockage then brushed the chimney many times to remove creosote buildup and debris. Crews utilized the thermal camera to check for extension around the chimney inside the residence before clearing the scene.

Please don't burn without a permit from the Fire Warden.

We're entering a critical fire danger window with brisk winds that will enhance fire spread and make it difficult to contain once started. Yes it can happen to you!

If you're in Walden, please call our Forest Fire Warden Rodney Ho**er at 802.563.9926 There's no voicemail, but he has caller-ID, so please make sure you have a number displayed that he can call you back on. No permit = No burn, it's just that simple.

We're all in this together - the property you save by being a responsible landowner and getting a permit to burn might be yours or your neighbors.

Folks, as of 1413 hours today, VT Route 15 at Rowell Road in Walden is currently closed due to multiple car slide-offs.

The VT-511 alert said that "Expect delays and seek alternative routes while crews work the scene".

FYI - Walden Fire was *not* requested/toned to the respond to the incident scene, so we have no idea what, if any crews are working the scene, and what traffic management is or isn't occurring at this point.

Stay safe, and be alert to variable road conditions with today's heavy wet snow.

It's brush fire season folks! If you have any doubt Waterbury Fire Department is currently out at an 'out of control' brush fire on Route 2 in Waterbury. https://www.facebook.com/share/p/18BRRw9g9M/

Yes, there's snow on the ground, in patches. High winds like we have today can easily have a grass/brush fire jump those patches, and then it's a beast to control.

Think before you burn please. We are all in this together.

Mother Nature apparently never got the 'it's Spring' memo. 😢

So as we continue to get accumulating snow, please don't forget to check your vents and keep them clear of snow.

If you hear your CO detector beeping (**pop-quiz**; how many times does a CO detector beep? Hint - it's different than your Smoke detector), please immediately exit your home and call 9-1-1 when you're safely outside in fresh air, and wait for us to arrive to check out the source of your CO activation.

Please help your elderly and mobility challenged neighbors check their vents and clear them too as we continue to be in winter's grasp.

Be kind to others, help your neighbors - especially those who won't ask for help, you know who they are. We are all in this together!

Quiz answer - 4 beeps for a CO detector.
