Folks, there's a huge line of major thunderstorms heading this way from the northwest.

Some areas to our NW right now are under a tornado warning, not a typo. While we're currently outside the box, the whole mess is moving this way.

If you have stuff outside at risk of blowing away, put it away now while it's safe to do so. Remember if you can hear thunder, you're in danger of being struck by lightning.

Be well, stay safe, keep kids and pets close, and keep an eye on the sky tonight.

Tonight members completed pump training utilizing portable pumps and drafting with the engine off of the Lower Harrington bridge. These type of exercises not only keep everyone familiar with equipment operation and location on the trucks, it also keeps the equipment in good operating condition and in a state of readiness. Familiarization with feasible and accessible water supplies is a key factor during fire emergencies.

Folks, more potential severe weather this afternoon into this evening. Please keep an eye on the sky, and head indoors at the first sound of thunder.

Remember if you can hear it, you're at risk for being struck by lightning. Please plan your outdoor activities accordingly, and be prepared to take shelter if a storm develops.

Be well, stay safe, be kind to your neighbors, we're all in this together.

Folks - rinse and repeat - here's your early warning of the next round of severe weather coming through tomorrow afternoon and evening. ⛈️🌩️

As the NOAA map below shows, we are currently in the 'orange' moderate risk rating, which is actually the first time we've been in this enhanced criteria so far this summer.

So, tomorrow not only do we have another high heat and humidity warning already in place, we'll be having this next round of severe coming through starting in the afternoon and continuing into the evening.

High winds, cloud to ground lightning and torrential rains are anticipated with this next round of severe.

Please share this post, and keep and eye on the sky tomorrow.

Be well, stay safe and if you need 9-1-1, don't hesitate to call, and please also check in on your neighbors who need a hand - especially those who won't ask for help. Be kind to others, we are all in this together!

***Important Roadway Safety Info***

If you're traveling west on Route 215 from 15 in Walden towards Cabot, just over the Cabot line at Tim and Gail Greaves' residence is a small pond on the right side of the road with a Cabot, VT Volunteer Fire Dept. dry hydrant.

Last night's torrential rainfall caused the loss of a lot of the pond berm adjacent to the blacktop, and although the blacktop is still currently intact, please use ***extreme care*** while taking that curve heading towards Cabot Village.

The Town has been out to assess the damage, and repairs are being formulated as this is posted, but please, please, please slow down so you don't end up in the pond if you fail to negotiate that curve.

Be well, stay safe, and please share with folks you know who travel this section of road.
