Today is the last day of NY's legislative session for the Senate. The Assembly is extended until June 17. I know it is unbelievable but it is still not resolved whether leadership will allow a vote on the drugged driving issue.

Yesterday, a driver drugged by nitrous oxide (not on the list of drugs) crashed into a DOT work zone. The email below was sent to all legislators and separate ones to leadership.

There is movement on the bills but calls to the Senate leadership could help get the issue over the finish line TODAY.

Please contact Majority Leader/President Pro Tempore Senator Andrea Stewart-Cousins at (518) 455-2715 and Deputy Majority Leader Michael Gianaris at (518) 455-3486 TODAY.

Ask them to allow a vote on S6485c and/or S2214. (This bill's single provision adds "any substance or combination of substances" to the definition of drug.

There are 33 Senate co-sponsors and 59 Assembly co-sponsors. See attached list.

THANK YOU,
-Maureen McCormick

Key Dates:

February 3-9: Super Bowl Campaign
February 9: Super Bowl
Super Bowl parties are some of the most attended gatherings among friends and family, so keeping safety in mind is essential. We offer themed material that encourages people to plan ahead and designate a sober driver before the game starts. And, if someone is hosting a party, take care of guests. The message is simple: Fans Don’t Let Fans Drive Drunk.

Assets are available in English and Spanish. Share this information with partner organizations to help spread the message across communities.
