Walden Fire Explorers Post 46

Thursday night, The Explorers assembled in two teams, took part in two Evolutions switching roles with Engine and Ladder response. After arriving at our Drill Tower on our Apparatus, they stretched ‘200 feet of Attack Hose line to the 3rd/Top floor while the other team conducted forcible entry, searches as well as placing Portable Ladders. ‘Learning occurred’ and strong reinforcement of their skills was evident ! They worked hard and did well !

Friday Night and Saturday, the Members were able to learn and sharpen their Engine, Ladder and Basic EMS Skills at the Pike County (PA) Jr. Firefighter Training Weekend. Despite the ‘driving rain’, the Members were undeterred and worked their Butts off ! Great Job !

Also a Heartfelt ‘Shout out’ to two of our Leaders, Chief Fred and Pattie Williams who were injured in a Car Accident Friday night returning home from the Training Session in PA. ❤️

On Thursday March 12 Explorers participated in a difficult maze while advancing a charged hose line. Explorers also simultaneously flowed water through the line emulating fighting fires in an interior fire situation. Explorers went through the maze in groups of four to practice teamwork and communication skills. Some of our older members were even allowed to wear SCBA packs without masks on to get a feel for what it is like to have the weight on as they crawled through the maze. After Explorers finished using the hoses they drained and rolled the lines before helping to refill the squad and tanker that provided them with water.

Last Night, the Members of the Fire Explorer Post 46 visited the Orange County Fire Museum in Montgomery. Our beloved Chief Jeff Holmes did a spectacular job taking us through the evolution of the Fire Service and the neat equipment that has been used in the last 250 years. From 🪣 Buckets to Engines 🚒!

Wednesday Evening 11/26, The Explorers received plenty of ‘Hands on practice’, confidence forcing doors/overhauling with the Halligan Pry Bar and the Flathead Axe.
