Please think about volunteering. It may be your own house, parent, or dog you save. OSHA standards state we must have 2 people to go into a structure and 2 outside, which mostly never happens because of the lack of manpower. For those that ask how much being a volunteer firefighter gets paid and then go away when they are told zero, think about saving your own family.

Bring bottled water, monitor the station while we are on a call, operate the radio, put out wheel chocks or safety cones, go to the hardware or auto store, and other things. There are plenty of things to do without being physically able to be a firefighter.

Thanks to Columbia County Judge's Office Judge Fields for investing in volunteer fire departments and purchasing two generators for the county radio system. One of them ran for four hours this morning and was installed 2025 Q4.

Judge Fields invested over $250,000 for nine radio sites that all fire departments use and invested in firefighter radios. No other county this size comes close to nine radio sites.
