Day 108 — The Walk For Peace Enters The Finish Line, Washington DC

This morning the Walk for Peace leaves Virginia and quietly steps into Washington, DC.

For 2,300 miles they have come the same way every day, sunrise, robes, a slow steady line down roads most of us pass without noticing. Small towns, highways, shoulders of interstates, church parking lots, front yards, strangers handing them fruit, children waving, and long stretches of nothing but wind and pavement.

Now the road carries them into the nation’s capital.

It almost feels strange.
Not because the city is important, but because the walk has never really been about a destination.

They didn’t hurry to get here. They didn’t march. They didn’t campaign. They simply kept walking. One step, then another, for 108 straight days. The same quiet practice whether anyone watched or not.

Today’s path includes gatherings and ceremonies, Bender Arena this morning, an interfaith service at the National Cathedral this afternoon, and a unity walk along Embassy Row. Tonight they rest at George Washington University.

But the real moment isn’t the events.

It’s the image: touching the pavement of a city built on debate, disagreement, and constant noise, and answering it with silence.

They are not arriving to change Washington.
They are arriving to remind it.

Peace is not an agreement.
It is a practice.

The journey is nearly finished.
The walking is not.
