Meet Sully.
If dogs could tell their stories, Sully's would begin with fear.
Born into the same life as his mother, Tesa, Sully never got the chance to discover that the world could be kind. Love wasn't something he was taught. Safety wasn't something he knew.
Now he is finally getting that chance.
Sully is a gentle soul, but the world still feels overwhelming to him. He is pretty head shy and sudden movements send him shrinking away. He watches before he trusts. He waits before he believes. It takes time for him to decide that a person is safe.
But if you're patient enough to let Sully move at his own pace, you'll discover something beautiful.
Behind those worried eyes is a dog who desperately wants to believe. Every day he finds a little more courage. Every gentle word, every tossed treat, every quiet moment teaches him that his past doesn't have to define his future.
Sully doesn't need someone to "fix" him. He needs someone who understands that healing isn't measured in days, but in tiny victories:
✨ The first tail wag.
✨ The first time he chooses to come closer.
✨ The first time he realizes a hand reaching for him is there to love him, not hurt him.
He has spent his life waiting for someone to show him that people can be gentle. Maybe that someone is you! Sully has known enough fear for one lifetime. Now, he deserves to know what it feels like to finally be someone's dog. ❤️
How to Adopt:
Visit the Lincoln County Animal Shelter website to complete an application.
Once approved, schedule a meet-and-greet.
Finalize paperwork, pay the fee, and take him home!

🌟 A HUGE thank you to Dr. Tamay Guevera for her incredible hard work and dedication to the animals at the Lincoln County Animal Shelter! 🌟
Over the past few weeks, Dr. Guevera has completed several spays, neuters, and even a special surgery on one of our staff favorites, Oboe. Oboe needed an entropion surgery — to correct a condition where the eyelids roll inward, causing the fur and eyelashes to scratch and ulcerate the cornea. Thanks to Dr. Guevera’s skill and compassion, Oboe is on the road to feeling so much better. 💛🐾
We are truly grateful for everything she does to keep our animals healthy, comfortable, and ready for their forever homes. Thank you, Dr. Guevera, for being such an important part of our shelter family! 🙏🐶💙

Got some extra clutter? Turn it into life-saving care for animals in our community! Donating to Pick of the Litter Thrift Store is so easy, it almost feels like cheating.
With our Drive-Up Drop-Off, you don't even have to lift a finger. Just pull right up, and our wonderful volunteers will happily empty your car for you!

A microchip only works if your current phone number and address are attached to it! If you move or change your phone number, your pet's chip becomes outdated.
Here is how you can check and update your information today:
• Get the chip number: Ask your vet or local animal shelter to scan your pet and write down the unique number.
• Find the registry: Type the number into the AAHA Microchip Lookup tool to see which company holds your pet's record.
• Update your details: Log into your account on the registry's website or call their customer service team to update your phone number, email, and home address.
• Add emergency contacts: Include a backup phone number of a trusted friend or relative just in case you cannot answer.
Take five minutes today to check the chip. It could save a furry best friend's life!

We love to receive updates from our adoption families.
La Vonne shared this with us, On April 27th I adopted Brick, a 3-year-old yellow lab. We immediately changed his name to Buddie. We learned early on that Buddie is a countertop pirate. Bagels, packet of raw vanilla pudding and miraculously a whole raw egg unbroken!!
The first 3 months were hard for me. I felt that I had adopted a broken Labrador. He didn’t swim, didn’t know how to play. Wouldn’t touch a ball. The first week I had him he broke my ribs after seeing “deer” in the yard and I held onto his leash for dear life. And he was dog aggressive.
It’s been 4 months since I rescued him. He swims daily, he fetches the ball both in water and out. We walk off leash in the mountains, and he continues to surprise me daily. I wouldn’t change a thing!!! Thank you, Lincoln County Animal Shelter, for all that you do!!

Support our friends at the Central Coast Humane Society as they raise vital funds to help local pets and their families!
How They Help
• Financial assistance for pet owners who cannot afford veterinary care.
• Cat population control programs to manage neighborhood cat numbers.
• Community support that fills the gap for our local shelter and other non-profits.
Ways You Can Help
• Buy raffle tickets: They will be at the Safeway parking lot in Newport tomorrow with the SNip Ship (Mobile Spay, Neuter and Wellness Clinic) from 130pm to 4 pm.
• Donate bottles and cans: They will be handing out blue bags for their Cans for Cats Program with BottleDrop.
• Attend a dinner: Join the Spayghetti No Balls and Taco dinners featuring a silent auction and raffle.
• Date & Location: Saturday, September 19, 2026, in Newport at the Samaritan Center for Health Education
