Exciting News for Lincoln County’s Animals!
Friends of Lincoln County Animals (FOLCAS) and the Lincoln County Animal Shelter are celebrating a major milestone for local animal care. Thanks to a generous donation from FOLCAS, the shelter’s brand new surgery suite and recovery room is now fully equipped and officially open!
This means animals entering the shelter can now receive essential surgical care—like spays and neuters—right here in the Lincoln County Animal Shelter. No more transporting pets to other cities! This upgrade allows animals to get procedures done sooner, recover faster, and become available for adoption more quickly, helping them find their forever homes without extended shelter stays.
Thank you to our incredible community for your generous donations. Your support makes our work possible, and we are truly grateful for every contribution. With your continued encouragement, we’re excited about the opportunity to expand our services and bring even more resources and support to the community in the future.

Keeping your pets’ rabies vaccines up to date is the single most important step you can take to protect them from a fatal disease.
Did you know that bats are the primary carriers of rabies in Oregon? Because our state is full of beautiful outdoor spaces and abundant wildlife, the risk of encounter is closer than you think.
Here is what every Oregon pet owner needs to know to keep their furry family members safe: 🐾 What Oregon Law Says
Dogs: Oregon law mandates that all dogs must be vaccinated against rabies as early as three months of age.
Cats: While state law only mandates it for dogs, certain counties (like Multnomah County) require it for cats too. Regardless of local law, veterinarians strongly recommend it for all feline friends.
🐱 Why Cats Need It (Even Indoor Ones!)
• Natural Hunters: Cats are naturally drawn to chasing small moving things—including bats. Nationwide, cats are reported to have rabies twice as often as dogs.
• Indoor Risks: Bats frequently slip into homes through chimneys, attics, or open windows. An indoor cat can easily corner an infected bat inside your living room.
⏳ The Reality of Quarantine Laws
If an unvaccinated pet interacts with a potentially rabid animal in Oregon, the consequences are heartbreaking. Under Oregon Health Authority guidelines, an unvaccinated pet exposed to rabies faces a strict 4-month quarantine or even euthanasia. Up-to-date vaccinated pets, however, typically only require a quick booster shot and a home observation period.
Rabies is 100% preventable, but virtually 100% fatal once symptoms appear. Protect your pet, protect your family, and create a safe buffer zone for our Pacific Northwest communities!
🏥 Is your pet due for a booster? Call your local vet today to check their records or find an upcoming vaccine clinic near you!

Are you looking for a running buddy, a hiking partner, or a co-pilot for weekend adventures? Meet Trigger, a stunning, athletic German Shorthaired Pointer/Labrador Retriever mix who is ready to bring joy (and a little bit of noise) into your life!
Trigger is the definition of a best friend. Whether it's playing fetch, or going on long walks, he is happiest when moving. With a stunning coat and even better personality, he is ready to learn and play!
Trigger is very high-energy and will need an active, committed family who can provide daily, vigorous exercise to keep him/her happy.
Also, Trigger is a vocal communicator! He is a "loud barker" who will alert you to squirrels, neighbors, passing cars, or just to say "Hey, watch me play!". He needs an owner who understands this breed's "shout-y" nature and is willing to work on training.
Ideal Home:
•A fenced yard is highly preferred for safe zoomies.
•An active family (runners/hikers/adventurers).
•A home where he/she won't be left alone for long periods.
•Experience with high-energy or working breeds is a huge plus!
If you have the stamina, the patience, and the love to give this incredible dog the life he deserves, Trigger is waiting for you!

UPDATE: Lu has been adopted as a working cat. Fingers crossed she is a good fit!

Need a free rodent-control expert with a spicy personality? Meet Lu the calico! She has a history of biting and is looking for a working cat home—like a barn, shop, or stable—where she can live her best independent life.
Watch Lu in action in the attached video! 🎥
🐾 About Lu:
Lu is a feisty, independent girl who prefers keeping her distance and doing her own thing. Because she can get overstimulated and give a spicy nip, she is strictly a "look but don't cuddle" kind of cat. She would thrive as a barn or shop mouser where she has a safe place to sleep and can roam, hunt, and earn her keep!
🏠 Adoption Details:
• Shelter: Lincoln County Animal Shelter
• Location: 220 SW Dahl Avenue, Waldport, OR
• Hours: Tuesday – Saturday, 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM
• Phone: (541) 265-0720
