đŸŸ SCENT OF HOPE KITS NOW AVAILABLE

The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office is proud to partner with Upstate Bloodhound Search and Rescue, the Oconee Sheriff’s Foundation, and Lifeline Community Church to make Scent of Hope kits available to our community FREE of charge.

Scent of Hope kits allow families and caregivers to preserve the unique scent of a child or at-risk adult ahead of time. If that individual ever runs away, wanders, or goes missing, the preserved scent can be provided to trained bloodhound search teams as an additional resource to assist in locating them.

Each kit contains the materials and instructions needed to properly collect and preserve a scent sample at home, making it easy to prepare ahead of time.

Once completed, the kit stays with the family or caregiver. The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office does not collect or store completed kits, and information from the kits is not entered into a database or used for data collection.

FREE kits are available for pickup:

📍 Oconee County Sheriff’s Office – Walhalla, SC
📅 Monday–Friday
🕣 8:30 AM–5:00 PM

We also want to extend a special THANK YOU to the Tribble Center for their help assembling and packaging the Scent of Hope kits for distribution. We appreciate their time and their role in helping make this resource available to our community!

Taking a few minutes to prepare today could provide search teams with another valuable tool if a loved one ever goes missing. When every minute matters, being prepared can make a difference.
