WATER SERVICE RESTORED & BOIL WATER ADVISORY

The City of Walhalla Water Department has completed repairs to the pump station after a power surge blew the breaker and water service has been restored to all affected customers.

Out of an abundance of caution, a 48 HOUR Boil Water Advisory is now in effect. This is for customers on Oconee Station Road
Pickett Post Road
Playground Road
Lecroy Road
Burnt Tanyard Road
Country Junction Road
Oconee Creek Road
Old Station Road
Whitecut Road and all surrounding areas. Customers are advised to bring all water to a rolling boil for at least three (3) minutes before using it for drinking, cooking, or preparing food.

Customers may also notice discolored or milky water. This is normal following a repair and is caused by air and sediment in the lines. Running cold water for several minutes should help clear it.
Customers will be notified when the advisory has been lifted.

We appreciate your patience and cooperation.

CITY OF WALHALLA WATER SERVICE UPDATE

The City of Walhalla would like to thank our residents for their patience and understanding following a significant loss of water pressure and water service on Saturday, August 15.

A major line break several miles outside of City limits to relatively new infrastructure resulted in a substantial loss of water and drained the City's water storage tanks, creating widespread pressure and service issues for our customers.

Our City of Walhalla Water Department crews worked throughout the night with assistance from Westminster Water employees to locate the source of the problem, assess the damage, and make the necessary repairs to restore the water system.

Our water tanks are now successfully filling up. Until then, we are asking residents to restrict large volume water usage such as watering lawns and washing cars.

We want to extend our sincere appreciation to our dedicated water crews, Walhalla City Police, and to the Westminster Water Department for their assistance and partnership. Their hard work, cooperation, and commitment to our communities allowed crews to work through the night to address the issue as quickly and safely as possible.

We also appreciate the patience and cooperation of our residents while we addressed this emergency. We understand how disruptive a loss of water service can be, and we are grateful for your understanding as our crews worked to restore the system.
