Walker Valley Chemical Engine Co. No. 1

Walker Valley Chemical Engine Co. No. 1 We are a 100% Volunteer Fire Co. We provide fire protection, EMS and Rescue for our small communities.

As an all volunteer dept we are only as strong as the unity of the members that show up everyday. Our success is dependant on the teamwork of each member. This team functions as a family. Like all families we will not always agree or like the actions that other family members sometimes bring to the table. We will disagree, complain and berate those opossing views from time to time. But when the time comes to do the job at hand a family forgets their petty differences and works to ensure every single family member and teammate goes home safely. These simple principles are what allows a team, a family and a department to succeed. Remember the person you don't agree with today may be the same person you are counting on to save your life. Be respectful of every opinion even if you don't agree with it. Remember your view may be the opposing view one day and you would expect to at least be heard before your opinion is immediately dismissed.
God,
Please watch over our team and make sure they go home SAFELY to thier families every time that alarm rings. Amen.

The Officers and Members of the Walker Valley Fire Department would like to take a moment and thank each and every person that has reached out to us with donations, words of appreciation or land owners that offered unrestricted access to neighboring properties. The fire originated on Sam’s Point and unfortunately progressed down the mountain into the Walker Valley area. It has been one of the largest fires we have had to combat in our district in a long time. On Saturday afternoon over 40 members responded to combat the fire along the Mandel Rd., Oregon Trail and Upper Mountain Rd. corridor. Without the continued support of the community, Brother and Sister firefighters working alongside Local, County(s) and State agencies, we could not have achieved the fire being contained without a single home being lost and not a single injury reported in the Walker Valley Fire Protection district. We remain in close contact with the Command Structure in Cragsmoor, continually watching the valiant efforts of everyone still working to completely extinguish the fire at Sam’s Point today. Today in Walker Valley, Fire crews are combing over the blackened areas to assure no fires attempt to reignite as the warmer weather returns. We wanted the community to rest assured that we remain ready for immediate action should the fire attempt to reenter the Walker Valley Area. Again, Thank-you for your continued support, we are humbled and grateful…
Chief Grass.

The Officers would like to thank each and every person that assisted with the Structure fire last night. Walker Valley FD is blessed with some of the most dedicated members and neighbors anyone could hope for. Instead of spending the evening celebrating the past/future year, we worked side-by-side with some of the greatest mutual aid companies anyone could ask for. Thank-you to the Craigsmoor FD, Shawangunk Valley FD, Pine Bush FD, Bloomingburg FD, Wallkill FD, Ellenville FD, Wurtsboro FD, Ulster County Fire Investigators, UC Fire Coordinator Plantz Car 56-3, Orange & Sullivan CTY Coordinators, Walker Valley Ladies Auxiliary and Pirog and Garvey Excavating, . Again, Thank-you for the continued support everyone provides.
