🏇🎩 LAC Derby Day 2026 🎩🏇
Yesterday, LAC was off to the races for an unforgettable Derby Day celebration! Our participants came dressed to impress in beautiful derby dresses, oversized hats, bow ties, button-down shirts, and classic gentlemen's hats. The room was filled with style, smiles, and plenty of Derby spirit!
The competition was fierce as participants raced stick horses and took part in a variety of horse-racing themed challenges and activities. We even had a few racers surprise everyone with their incredible speed—showing talents we didn't even know they had! The cheers from the crowd were loud as friends encouraged one another every step of the way.

We had the pleasure of welcoming the Livingston Parish Sheriff's Office Cadets, during their basic training, to LAC for a special day of sensitivity training, learning, and connection!
Through hands-on activities, games, and meaningful interactions, the cadets gained valuable insight into the importance of adapting, showing patience, practicing kindness, and understanding the unique strengths and challenges of individuals with disabilities. What started as a learning experience quickly turned into a day filled with laughter, smiles, and new friendships.
Our participants and the cadets worked together, encouraged one another, and discovered that a little kindness and understanding can go a long way. The room was filled with giggles, teamwork, and moments that reminded us all of the power of inclusion and acceptance.
Of course, no LAC visit would be complete without a celebration! We wrapped up the day with an epic dance party where everyone hit the dance floor and showed off their best moves.
A huge thank you to the Livingston Parish Police Cadets for spending the day with us, embracing the experience with open hearts, and helping build a more inclusive and compassionate community. 💜🕺💃🎶

🚛💚 What an AMAZING day at LAC with our friends from WM Livingston Parish! 💚🚛
Today, the WM team stopped by LAC to give our participants an up-close look at the world of waste management and everything that goes into keeping our community clean, safe, and running smoothly! From learning about routes, operations, trash pickup, and disposal, to seeing the truck in action with the giant mechanical arms moving up and down, today was full of excitement, learning, and LOTS of smiles! 😄♻️
One of the biggest highlights of the day was hearing that the NATIONAL WM Driver of the Year works right here in our own hometown! 🏆🚛 How incredible is that?! Participants loved hearing about his accomplishments and getting to see his shiny championship-style ring up close! What an inspiration and reminder that hard work and dedication truly pay off.
And of course… the loud horn was a HUGE hit! 😂📣 Our participants had the BEST time doing the classic “honk your horn” arm motion and hearing the truck blast its horn over and over again. The smiles and laughter could probably be heard across Livingston Parish!
We are so thankful for the entire WM leadership and operations team for taking time out of their day to invest in our participants, answer questions, educate, encourage, and create such a memorable experience. Community partnerships and support from local businesses like WM mean so much to organizations like LAC. ❤️

The past couple of weeks at LAC have been FULL of creativity, laughter, learning, movement, and LOTS of fun! 💙🧩🎤🎨
We’ve had an amazing time exploring new activities, building incredible creations, enjoying music and games together, and sharing plenty of smiles along the way… including a little lavender “nose decoration” for Jonathan 😂💜
From sky-high towers to colorful masterpieces and karaoke moments, our participants continue to amaze us with their creativity, determination, teamwork, and joy. Watching everyone encourage one another, stay engaged, and proudly show off their accomplishments is what makes LAC so special. 🥹❤️
We are so grateful for a place where our participants can learn, explore, create, socialize, and truly enjoy themselves every single day. The smiles say it all! 💙

What a FIESTA we had today at LAC thanks to the incredible Pilot’s Club of Denham Springs! 🌮🎉💃
The Pilot’s Club went above and beyond, providing the games, crafts, snacks, prizes, and our adorable festive photo op for everyone to enjoy! Our participants had an absolute BLAST celebrating Cinco De Mayo with maracas, games, dancing, crafts, smiles, laughter, and even the Mexican Hat Dance! 🪇🌵🎶
From posing for fun pictures to enjoying a plate full of yummy snacks, every moment was filled with joy and excitement. The room was overflowing with happiness, laughter, and unforgettable memories! 📸❤️
