The Little Free Pantry inside Walker Ice & Fitness Center (WIFC) was fully stocked yesterday by community partner, Wonderland Family Vacations, LLC.

These are the shelves today (9/3) at 2 PM. Our community utilizes this small resource regularly.

Interested in becoming a community partner to "adopt" the pantry for a month? Contact [email protected] for details.

Residents who wish to drop off food as they can are reminded to avoid perishable or expired items. We also cannot accept clothing at this time. You can drop off appropriate items anytime WIFC is open (see hours below).

Things that are appreciated and go quickly:

-Toiletries and personal care items
-Meal kits
-Pasta noodles with sauce
-Canned meats such as tuna, chicken or sausage
-Shelf stable fruits and vegetables
-Snack items for a child's lunch bag
-Shelf stable milk such as Horizon milk boxes
-Microwavable soups & meals
-Applesauce
-Shelf stable meat sticks

We tend to always have enough canned veggies and dried beans & peas.

While we cannot guarantee what you may find on the shelves, if needed, the pantry is available, no questions asked, anytime WIFC (4151 Remembrance Road NW) is open.

We are now hiring a full time Fleet Services Tech.

Help keep Walker's fleet ready to serve the community—from fire trucks and police vehicles to dump trucks, heavy equipment, pool cars, small engines, and power tools.

If it has wheels, an engine, or a moving part, there’s a good chance you’ll have a hand in keeping it running.

When one emergency happens, it can affect the whole city.

That’s because a serious incident like a vehicle crash or house fire can take nearly all available police and fire personnel out of service, leaving other parts of the city with limited or no emergency coverage.

When this happens, we have to rely on neighboring communities to provide emergency response support, adding time and complexity when seconds can matter.

The proposed public safety millage would help us strengthen staffing and ensure we have the personnel needed to respond to multiple emergencies at the same time while maintaining coverage across the community.

Learn more about the public safety millage at Walker.City/PublicSafetyMillage.
