The pavement replacement project on 84th Street from Kenowa Avenue to Homerich Avenue included crushing and shaping the existing roadway, followed by two courses of hot mix asphalt (HMA). Contractor: Michigan Paving & Materials

• When overhead lights are flashing yellow: Prepare to stop
• When overhead lights are flashing red: Stop
• When hazard warning lights are flashing: Proceed with caution

1. West River Drive (Road Resurfacing)
Jupiter Avenue to Northland Drive

Contractor: Michigan Paving and Materials
About: The project will consist of placing an ultrathin overlay on West River Drive between Jupiter Avenue and Northland Drive. Prior to paving, the outside lanes and approaches will be cold milled to provide proper pavement transitions along with structure lowering. The project will also include adjusting all castings within the roadway to the new grade after paving is completed. The roadway will remain open to traffic throughout construction with traffic shifts between paved sections, expect possible delays.

2. Byron Center Avenue (Permit / Utility)
68th Street to Byron Shores
Schedule:
• August 24 - August 28, 2026

Temporary curb extensions are now in place on Thornapple River Drive SE at Fase Street near Covered Bridge Park, and if you travel through the area, we want to hear from you!

Installed in partnership with Grand Valley Metropolitan Council and Ada Township Downtown Development Authority, the temporary project is being tested to see how the safety infrastructure affects pedestrian visibility, crossing distance and driver awareness at the crosswalk.

An online platform called Deer Connections (deerconnections.com) is being piloted in Kent County to connect eligible landowners with hunters, increase hunting access on private land and help connect harvested venison with individuals and organizations seeking locally sourced protein.
