It’s hard to believe that nearly a year has passed since the loss of Officer Jim Christie.

Jim passed away on May 30th at 12:04 a.m., leaving behind a lasting impact on our department and the entire Walkerton community. In honor of his memory, the Walkerton Police Department invites the public to join us for a time of remembrance.

We will gather on Friday, May 29th at approximately 10:30 p.m. in front of the Walkerton Police Department. This will be an opportunity to share stories, reflect, and remember the life and service of Officer Christie. Anyone who wishes to speak or share a memory is welcome.

At the conclusion of the gathering, we will release a floating candle or lantern as close to 12:04 a.m. as possible in his honor.

All are welcome. We hope you can join us as we come together to remember Officer Jim Christie and the legacy he leaves behind.

The Walkerton Police Department would like to wish everyone in our community a very Happy Thanksgiving. Today, we want to give special recognition to a group of local businesses who have stepped up in a big way this holiday season:

Dino’s Family Restaurant, Ellis Hardwood, CH Builders, A1 Quality Fence, and Bob’s Country Store.

These businesses didn’t do it for attention — they did it because they care about the people who call this town home. They came together to make sure families who are struggling still get the Thanksgiving dinner they deserve, no questions asked. That’s the kind of heart and generosity that truly defines Walkerton.

So let’s show them some love, share their efforts, and give credit where it’s due. They’ve earned every bit of appreciation this community can give.

From all of us at the Walkerton Police Department:
Happy Thanksgiving, Walkerton. We’re grateful for you.

Today Matt Ellis and Ellis Hardwood are doing something incredible for our town. Out of the goodness of their hearts, they’re giving away FREE turkeys and Thanksgiving food items to local families who could use a helping hand right now.
Acts of generosity like this don’t just fill tables — they lift spirits. They remind us what it means to look out for one another.

If you or someone you know is struggling, please come out. No judgment, no questions — just kindness.
And even if you don’t need a turkey yourself, stop by to show your support for the folks who are pouring their time, money, and heart into making sure others don’t go without this holiday.

Let’s come together today. Share this so it reaches the families who truly need it. 🧡

🎖️ The Heroes Behind the Scenes 🎖️

Officer Kraning and the Walkerton Police Department would like to take a moment to recognize a group whose hard work often happens out of the spotlight — the John Glenn High School Cafeteria Staff and Mr. Will Groves.

Day in and day out, this incredible crew brings energy, precision, and pride to everything they do. During Falloween weekend, they go above and beyond — maintaining spotless, sanitary kitchen spaces and working tirelessly behind the scenes to keep every food operation running seamlessly.

Meanwhile, Mr. Groves is the driving force on the ground — ensuring the festival grounds are perfectly maintained, coordinating vendor setups, making sure everyone has power for their equipment, and tackling a laundry list of responsibilities far too long for one post.

Their dedication keeps things running smoothly and allows the Walkerton Police Department and countless other vendors to serve the community in a clean, organized, and safe environment.

As a small token of appreciation, we partnered with Fat Cap Smoked Meats, one of our amazing sponsors, to treat them to some well-earned BBQ.

So here’s to the heroes in hairnets and aprons — and to the man on the gator. You are the true unsung champions of Falloween. We see you, we appreciate you, and we thank you. 👏🍽️

The Walkerton Police Department would like to extend our deepest gratitude to the incredible sponsors who helped make this year’s Falloween BBQ booth possible. Your generosity and community spirit are what allowed our function this year to become a reality. Without all of you, none of this would have been possible.

We are proud to recognize and thank:

Bob’s Country Store • Artistic Soul Tattoo • Dino’s Family Restaurant • ERH Services • LaPaz Phillips 66 • Lincoln Township Trustee • Plymouth Kilwinning Lodge #149 • Gene’s Towing • Holy Scoops • 1st Source Bank • Bourbon Street Pizza • Polygon • Ace Hardware • American Legion Posts #365 & #189 • CH Builders • Elite Roofing • Fat Cap Smoked Meats • Casey’s General Store • The Hiler Family • The Kraning Family (in Memory of Barbara Kraning)

👉 Because of YOU, we’re able to support our Police Reserve Program and the John Glenn Football Team — all while serving up some of the best BBQ around. 💪🍖

Community + Good Food + Generous Sponsors = A win for everyone. THANK YOU! 🎉
