On Monday, Dakota, the Sac Co. Naturalist came and taught us all about pollinators! We got to enjoy the beautiful weather outside and pretend to be bees and butterflies pollinating the flowers!

We just finished up our talk with Amber and it was so informative!! She answered all our questions and was so knowledgeable and helpful!! I realized the time was not the best for some so we may have her come back again soon!! I do have extra copies of her handouts at the library if anyone is interested.

Last week I was gone for a meeting so Nancy took over story time! They read "Inch by Inch" and then made beaded inch worms!

Today we read "Flowers for Mama" which is the cutest book with really cool illustrations!! It's about a group of kittens who all make flowers out of different materials for their mom and one little guy whose flower just won't grow in time for her special day. The kiddos then made their own flowers for their moms! And I had some big helpers putting together the new toy!!

Many of you may remember this man, but some may not. Ed Ewoldt was a long-time supporter of and donor to the library. If you have had a family member pass away or someone has had a significant birthday or anniversary, odds are, there’s a library book here with their name on it, donated by Ed in their honor. He loved Wall Lake. For years, and long before my time here, he would call the library on a weekly basis just to check in on his beloved former home town and the people he knew and loved from his time here. Sadly, he passed away in December in his current hometown of Wheaton, Illinois. When we learned of his passing, our former long-time librarian, Jody, who had formed a special bond with Ed through years of chatting, brought the idea of donating something to the library in memory of Ed from the librarians. We decided to add some things to the children’s areas in the library. Pictured here are the items we chose to add to bring more fun to the library for our little ones. These were purchased with funds donated by Jody, Cathy, Steph, Jo, and Nancy in honor of a great man and friend of the library, Ed Ewoldt.

New books for the weekend!! And a wonderful donation from Jeff Henningfield. He took the pictures from the slide show he made for their 50 year class reunion and made a book that will be available in the library!

Last week's after school program had us making bird feeders! That is the sweetest sound of spring I think, when all the different birds come back!! Have you all tried the Merlin Bird ID app? It records the bird song and will tell you what kind of bird it is. So fun!! We have one more after school program left in May! Hope to see you all then!
