Assemblyman Ned Thomson Assemblyman representing New Jersey's 30th Legislative District New Jersey Assemblyman for the 30th Legislative District

09/04/2023

Thank you to Senator Bob Singer, Assemblyman Ned Thomson & Sean Kean for your statement in support of us! Their statement:

“As the state legislators representing Belmar, we stand with the residents and governing body in opposition to Verizon’s planned 5G development.

Belmar has a beautiful 1.3 mile beachfront which is the jewel of their community. We have previously asked Verizon to work with Belmar and formulate a plan that is more acceptable to residents and respects the beauty of the beachfront.

We are committed to protecting and preserving the beauty of our beaches and will continue to work with our County and local officials to do so.”

While I appreciate that Governor Murphy liked my proposal of using Energy Tax Receipts to offset the increases in health care costs for public workers, his attempt to do so does not go far enough. My bill, A4789, would fully offset the increased costs in order to avoid raising property taxes.

A twelve-year-old girl has been safely reunited with her family after she left her residence yesterday evening which started a large-scale search effort.

Wall Township Police were contacted by the girl’s parents at approximately 6pm on Wednesday evening reporting the girl was missing from her home located off Carmerville Rd. Police responded and determined the girl was not at the residence and began to check the area quickly turning it into a large-scale search effort with multiple agencies assisting. At approximately 10:15pm the girl was located by police checking the area. She was evaluated and found to be uninjured before being reunited with her family.

The search area was a large, wooded area that joins Allaire State Park. Due to the vast wooded area several agencies were needed to help in the search. Drones from Spring Lake, Spring Lake Heights, and Howell Township Police were used. K-9 teams, including bloodhounds were used from Wall Township Police, Monmouth County Sheriff’s, New Jersey Parks Police, and New Jersey Department of Corrections deployed in various locations. New Jersey State Police Aviation responded with a helicopter to search the area as well.

Wall Township Police would like to thank all the agencies that responded so quickly to assist in locating the juvenile. Below is a list of responding agencies:

Wall Township Police, Wall Township OEM, Glendola Fire Company, South Wall Fire Rescue, Wall Fire Company No. 1, Wall EMS, Wall First Aid, Wall Community First Aid, Wall Township Board of Education, Monmouth County Sheriff’s Department, Monmouth County Prosecutors Office, Monmouth County OEM, New Jersey State Police, Howell Township Police, Howell Township OEM, Spring Lake Police, Spring Lake Heights Police, New Jersey Department of Corrections, New Jersey State Parks Police.

A very special thank you to the community for all their support, especially the neighbors of the missing girls that assisted in searching the woods of their neighborhood.

“We are very happy the young girl was safely reunited with her family. This was an incredible display of cooperation from all public safety entities as well as the public. Thank you to everyone that assisted in the search as well as the tremendous outpouring of support from our great community” Chief Sean O’Halloran

“The diligent work of all agencies, and volunteers to locate the missing juvenile last night is a true testament to teamwork and family environment in Wall Township and Monmouth County. I could not be prouder as a resident and current Mayor of this community and our neighboring communities and partner agencies.” Mayor Timothy Farrell

Our District 30 team has proposed legislation to address the cancellation of courtesy busing at FRHSD. However, until the disastrous state funding formula is fixed, our schools will continue to struggle under this administration's cuts to state aid.

District 30 legislators to seek $3.5M for the Freehold Regional High School district so courtesy busing won't be cut next year.

Deepest condolences to the Shisler family and Deptford Police Department.

Yesterday I attended the Holocaust Remembrance Ceremony at Congregation Ahavat Olam in Howell. Yam HaShoah is incredibly important as we must never forget the horrors of the Holocaust. As a state legislator, I am committed to fighting antisemitism in all its forms.

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration(NOAA) agrees with my colleagues and me. We do not know what adverse effects these offshore windfarms will have. Development should stop until we do.

This study by two federal agencies highlights one of the main reasons I have joined fellow elected officials in calling for a moratorium on offshore wind development: we don't know the impact it will have on our marine ecosystem. With so many unanswered questions, continuing with development in the face of recent marine mammal deaths is reckless and an insult to our fishing industry.

The construction of offshore wind turbines could begin as soon as the end of 2023, as more research efforts also ramp up.
