YWCA Walla Walla

YWCA Walla Walla On a mission since 1917 to enrich the lives of women and their families. Visit us at www.ywcaww.org. YWCA has almost 250 associations across the United States.

Throughout our history, YWCA has been in the forefront of most major movements in the United States as a pioneer in race relations, labor union representation, and the empowerment of women. Founded in 1858 and headquartered in Washington D.C., YWCA is the voice for every woman. YWCA is where women turn to join a dynamic community united by a passion for positive social change, racial justice and e

conomic empowerment. We work to influence public policies on behalf of women and people of color. We speak out on behalf of women and girls and what they face today: racial, ethnic and gender disparities; domestic violence and sexual assault; a lack of affordable childcare and after-school programs; the urgency for job training in a struggling economy; the shortage of transitional and low-cost housing; and the high cost of health care. Today, YWCA represents 2 million women, girls and their families in the United States and 25 million women worldwide. YWCAs can also be found in more than 100 countries. YWCA Walla Walla has been enriching the lives of women and their families since 1917.

Today, we celebrate Frida Kahlo during Pride Month. 🎨🌈

An iconic artist and bisexual woman, Frida challenged gender norms and expressed her authentic self through deeply personal and powerful artwork. Her legacy continues to inspire people to embrace identity, resilience, and love in all its forms.

What message of encouragement would you give to an LGBTQIA+ survivor? Thank you to everyone who stopped by the YWCA table at the pride festival Saturday.

Some people make a community feel more welcoming simply by being themselves and inviting others in. Cia Cortinas is one of those people.
As a founder of Walla Walla Pride and a dedicated advocate for LGBTQ+ inclusion, Cia has worked to create spaces where people feel seen, welcomed, and valued for exactly who they are. Her work reminds us that strong communities are built when we open doors, build connections, and make room for everyone to belong.

The YWCA mission is to eliminate racism, empower women, and promote peace, justice, freedom, and dignity for all. We are grateful for community leaders like Cia who help move that mission forward—not only through what they do, but through the kindness, courage, and generosity they bring to others every day.

Thank you, Cia, for helping make Walla Walla a more welcoming, inclusive, and compassionate place for all.

Happy Pride Month. 🏳️‍🌈

No bills are getting paid today. Well, at least not right now, because KITTENS! Senior Director of Finance and Operations, Holly; Finance Manager, Demetria; and AP/Finance Assistant, Kimberly are soaking up some teeny tiny cuteness, courtesy of the YWCA wellness committee. Activities like holding kittens are one of the ways the whole staff works to be fully present for YWCA clients.

Never fear, the amazing finance department will be back to balancing the books very soon! 😻

1971. 1999. Today.

Different decades. Different faces. One shared commitment to making Walla Walla a stronger, safer, more equitable community.

As we looked at YWCA Board photos from years past, we were reminded that every generation of board members, volunteers, and supporters has helped shape who we are today. Whether you served for one year or many, your leadership is part of the YWCA story.

If you've ever served on the YWCA Board of Directors, we hope you'll join us for our upcoming Board & Leadership Circle Reunion on Thursday evening, June 18. This special gathering is a chance to reconnect with old friends, share memories, and celebrate the lasting impact of the people who have guided and supported YWCA Walla Walla through the years.

Members of the YWCA Leadership Circle—some of our most dedicated friends and supporters—are also warmly invited.

to Prom Night at Wingman Birdz & Brewz, where owner Brendan Mendoza hosted a Tap Takeover featuring pFriem Family Brewers!

YWCA board members Amy Ly and Danni Schack joined the fun, and we're incredibly grateful to Wingman and their customers for raising $650 to support YWCA programs and services.

At YWCA, we believe everyone deserves to celebrate, connect, and get home safely. That's why community partnerships like this matter—they help us continue providing safety, support, and hope for survivors and families throughout our community.

Thank you to Brendan, the Wingman team, pFriem Family Brewers, and everyone who came out for a great night and a great cause. It’s always a successful prom night when everyone has fun and gets home safely!

At YWCA Walla Walla we believe in being accountable to the community we serve. Posting current audited financial statements and IRS Form 990 on our website is one of the ways we do that. Our 2024 Financial Statements are now available at ywcaww.org/financials.

What a wonderful day!

A group of volunteers from Windermere Real Estate/ Walla Walla spent their annual Community Service Day giving back at YWCA, and we're feeling incredibly grateful.

One team sorted and folded gently used clothing for community members in need, while another transformed a space in our domestic violence shelter by helping complete a beautiful mural. The artwork brings warmth, beauty, and a welcoming touch to walls that hold so many stories of healing and new beginnings.

This kind of support means so much. Windermere has been a longtime partner of YWCA, including their generous involvement in our Adopt-a-Family holiday giving program, and we are thankful for the many ways they show up for our community.

Please join us in thanking these wonderful volunteers! And if you recognize someone in the photos or know anyone who helped us out today, we'd love for you to tag them to help celebrate their good work.

❤️ Thank you, Windermere, for helping make our community stronger.
