Wallace Depot Commission The Wallace Depot Commission's purpose is to restore, preserve, maintain and share the historic train depot in Wallace, NC.

The Friends of the Depot was formed to support the Wallace Depot Commission. The first undertaking was the restoration of the depot itself. The building now houses the Wallace Chamber of Commerce office, a Museum with train memorabilia, a model train room, the Learning Station, conference room and stage area. After the building was rested, a caboose was acquired and restored. Since then, a boxcar

and Railroad Postal Car have been acquired. The boxcar will be repainted soon, and part of it will be used for storage. The restoration of the Railway Postal Car will be the next undertaking for the group. The Museum area of the Wallace Depot is open Monday- Friday from 1-5 p.m. The Learning Station is open the first Saturday morning of each month, with trains perfect for little hands, craft projects and story times. It is also available for birthday party rentals. The Model Train room is open during festivals, by appointment for school groups, and is available for a portion of birthday party rentals,
