Stay hydrated, check on your family and neighbors that may not have air conditioning or a cool place to stay. Also don't keep pets outside for any length of time without shade and water. This is summer but it's an extremely serious heat and humidity event over the next several days.

An update to our current alerts here at noon on June 30th, 2026 shows more of the same over the next three days as heat alerts remain in effect through the end of Thursday. It is uncertain at this time if we see an extension into Friday due to factors such as thunderstorms. Additionally, a severe thunderstorm watch is in effect until 3 pm EDT for Menominee county ONLY, along with a couple Wisconsin counties to the south.

Continue to keep your body cool and hydrated folks, and remember... if you're hot, so are your pets. Time of post, 12:04 pm EDT 6/30/26.

WALLED LAKE FIRE DEPARTMENT RESPONDS TO BOX ALARM FIRE ON DECKER RD

WALLED LAKE, MI – At approximately 4:15 PM today, the Walled Lake Fire Department was dispatched to 1109 Decker Rd for a report of wires down.

Upon arrival, companies found a large amount of fire involving a tractor and multiple trailers, with fire extending to the side of the building. Downed electrical lines and a transformer on the ground created hazardous conditions. Due to live electrical lines, crews were unable to directly extinguish the fire and focused on protecting exposures to prevent further spread.

Given the severity of conditions, a Box Alarm was requested, bringing mutual aid assistance from the City of Novi, Commerce Township, Wixom, and Milford Township Fire Departments.

DTE Energy responded to the scene and is working to cut power to the area. Crews will remain on scene until power is secured and the fire can be safely extinguished.

No injuries have been reported at this time. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

The Walled Lake Fire Department thanks our mutual aid partners and DTE Energy for their quick response and assistance during this incident.

OUTDATED INFORMATION AS OF 8:00 PM -Be advised that Decker road is currently closed down between Maple and Pontiac Trail due to a large outdoor fire with multiple power lines down and construction equipment on fire. Please avoid the area and the Airline Trail at this time. Multiple departments are on scene to assist.

While most of the City is restored for water but under a boil water advisory, our neighbors in Novi are still out.

There's plenty of available water for drinking or anything else here at the Walled Lake Fire station on 1499 East West Maple.

It's set up to just drive through and pick up pre-filled bags.

Stop by and pick some up!
