I was honored to stand with Perry Johnson in the effort to elect him as our Republican nominee for governor. Perry sacrificed millions of dollars of his own money because he believed Michigan could do better. He wasn't looking for personal gain—he was driven by a desire to reform state government, restore accountability, and put the interests of Michigan families ahead of special interests. He poured his heart, time, and resources into this campaign, and for that he deserves our gratitude and respect.
While this campaign did not end with the result we had hoped for, it accomplished something important. Perry's candidacy exposed many of the obstacles faced by true political outsiders who challenge the status quo. It encouraged thousands of citizens to become more engaged, ask tough questions, and take a closer look at how our government operates and spends money.
Many grassroots volunteers gave their time, energy, and passion to this campaign. Whether you knocked doors, made phone calls, displayed yard signs, attended events, or simply talked to your neighbors, you made a difference. Your dedication did not go unnoticed. You stood up because you love your state and your country, and because you believe the next generation deserves the same freedoms and opportunities we have enjoyed.
The November election is less than 90 days away, and absentee ballots will begin going out on September 25. The mission before us is bigger than any one campaign or any one candidate. It is about the future of Michigan and the future we leave to our children and grandchildren.
Look how we defeated the millage!
If we stay involved and keep doing the work, we can help elect Republican candidates up and down the ballot who will fight for lower taxes, more accountable government, stronger communities, and the constitutional freedoms that make Michigan and America so special.
The most important election is still ahead of us. It won't be easy, but if we stay united and keep working together, we can make a real difference.
Let's keep fighting to make Michigan a place where freedom, opportunity, and common sense continue to thrive. The future of our state is worth the effort.
