Today Shift 3 was able to train withPlaza Service Center Inc. using some of our specialized rescue equipment.
This type of training is very beneficial, these emergencies are high risk, low frequency. Being able to hone in on our skills in these simulated scenes prepares our members to confidently and seamlessly handle these emergencies shall they arise. Thank you Plaza Service Center for your continued support.

Wallingford Fire Department Responds to 12 Calls During Busy Day Shift

Wallingford Fire Department crews experienced a busy day today, responding to 12 calls for service during a 10-hour day shift.
Several incidents were serious in nature, including a gas line strike on Washington Street, an electrical hazard involving a building on Wharton Brook Drive, a brush fire on the outskirts of town near Dibble Edge Road, and shortly thereafter, a structure fire on Clifton Street.
Thanks to early activation of 911 by a vigilant neighbor, and the rapid response and coordinated efforts of department personnel, the Clifton Street fire was contained to the exterior of the home. This prevented further extension into the structure. The fire resulted in no injuries to occupants or fire personnel and remains under investigation by the Office of the Fire Marshal. Meriden Fire sent a mutual aid Engine as well. The Wallingford Building Official assisted at the scene, as did Wallingford Electric Division and Eversource.
In addition to these incidents, firefighters and emergency medical personnel responded to several Advanced Life Support (ALS) medical emergencies throughout the day, providing critical care and transport assistance to residents in need.
The Wallingford Fire Department remains committed to protecting the community and appreciates the dedication of its members who worked diligently to manage a demanding operational period safely and effectively. We also want to remind all residents to ensure they have working smoke detectors.

As we wrap up EMS Week, the department would like to thank Hartford Healthcare and EMS Coordinator Sean Fitch for providing our crews with lunch from Mission BBQ Southington. EMS is such a large and important part of our department; it's nice to have the week to recognize all of our EMTs and paramedics who provide high-quality patient care to our residents and visitors alike.
