This week, April 23, 2026 to be specific, the Wallingford Board of Education is expected to vote on a CONTINUATION of contract services for its one high school FANTASY site; even though the Board itself HAS STILL NOT disclosed the site location to public, and HAS STILL NOT even voted on the site! Have they even told all of the BOARD MEMBERS as of yet?

Gee, I SURE HOPE that it is centrally located in town, and free of all wetlands concerns. Otherwise, their continued operation in the dark, over many years, shutting out the public from this process looks (to the general public) to be fueled by something other than good faith act. Kickbacks? Bribery? Extortion? Payoffs? Inquiring minds continue to ask, but I can't provide the answer.

The PUBLIC deserves INFORMATION and ANSWERS! To hide and obfuscate, while spending the taxpayers' money does nothing other than to give the appearance of impropriety. Meanwhile, the middle schools continue to be neglected.

Six years later and the Wallingford Board of Education STILL has not asked the Town Council to officially vote on the fantasy property for their "one high school." Instead, they seek "appreciation" for their headlong obstinance, with NO "Plan B" in the works. Even if approved this fall, opening will not be for (at least) ANOTHER SIX YEARS?!?

In 2019, the Wallingford Board of Education did a survey, asking the public their preferences regarding school buildings and their significant needs. By an OVERWHELMING MAJORITY (65%), the public REJECTED their "One High School" fantasy. Nonetheless, OVER SIX YEARS LATER, they continue to spend money on their dream - still unable to identify a site.

This failure leads to many, many questions, such as: If they were going to ignore the results anyway, why did they even spend the money for the survey? Why did they lead the public to believe their voices would be heard? Are the children getting a BETTER educational experience for their obstinance? Is someone getting kickbacks for persisting with the fantasy? Unable to find land in Wallingford, are they going to build it in North Haven? Cheshire? Meriden? Durham? Middlefield? Inquiring minds want to know...

The public deserves answers. The students and their families deserve CLOSURE.

THREE YEARS LATER and the Wallingford Board of Education STILL cannot find a place for its FANTASY of having one high school here in Wallingford. Administrators have complained for years that education is negatively impacted by the failing infrastructure and uncertainty. Meanwhile, students and parents await the official announcement that the Board of Education has wasted time, money and vital resources on a plan that never was to happen. Sad but true.

Unlike two years ago, the Wallingford Town Council elected its new chairman on the same night that elected officials were sworn into office.
