Members are appointed to three-year terms by the Board of Commissioners and serve without compensation. The commissioners also can appoint other residents to serve as Ad Hoc members of the Historical Commission.

Township summer camp- camp registration opens April 6th and runs from June 22 through July 23rd from 8:30-12. The township is accepting applications for campers, counselors, and volunteer counselors (age 14 and 15). More details can be found here: https://linkprotect.cudasvc.com/url?a=https%3a%2f%2fnetherprovidence.org%2ftownship_news%2ftownship-summer-camp-2026-registration-opens-april-6th%2f&c=E,1,KxO_y33YoJ-QIBhbDBjDeywJUByAB7NVNuetzHTR7i73gaJSJ4GKH6887lFf5yVdRXwUOiwUYvPkK_CMW5NF-ktA1gWDhMH6BDRmTfUkNcjmTFeqijgQ5g,,&typo=1

Road Resurfacing – the township bid out its 2026 roads to be resurfaced and work should start shortly. In our area, Penn Valley Road and Heathdale Lane are on the schedule. As a reminder, roads that were torn up by Aqua are resurfaced using, in large part, funds received from Aqua to do that work. For all other roads, the engineer provides each road in the township with a ranking based on its condition and we resurface as many of the lowest ranking roads as possible within our budget.

Hazardous waste events – The next event is April 18th. News from Nether Providence Township

Hi Neighbors,

As we get ready for the back-to-school season, we’re asking everyone to take a few minutes to check the bushes, shrubs, and ornamental grasses on your property—especially near intersections and stop signs.

Overgrown plants can block sightlines for drivers and pedestrians, creating safety issues. With kids heading back to school and new drivers on the road, it’s more important than ever to keep those areas clear.

If you have any overgrowth that might be blocking visibility, please trim it back as soon as possible. It makes a big difference in keeping our neighborhood safe for everyone.

Thanks so much for your help!

Friends,

I wanted to share this personal message from Peggy Malone, a Registered Nurse with 37 years of bedside experience and President of the Crozer-Chester Nurses Association.

***

"On behalf of nearly 500 frontline nurses at Crozer-Chester Medical Center and on behalf of Pennsylvania Association of Staff Nurses & Allied Professionals (PASNAP) as a whole, we are proud to endorse Dr. Max Cooper for Delaware County Council. At this pivotal moment in healthcare, we need a leader who understands the critical challenges we face. Dr. Cooper’s extensive experience working in emergency departments across Delaware County - at Crozer-Chester Medical Center, Taylor Hospital, Delaware County Memorial Hospital, and Springfield Hospital - has given him deep insights into the day-to-day realities of healthcare professionals. He truly understands the pressures we face as nurses and healthcare workers.

One of the most urgent needs in our hospitals is safe staffing. To ensure quality care for our community, we must have adequate staffing levels. Dr. Cooper understands this, and he has been a staunch advocate for this cause, standing with us in Delaware County and in Harrisburg to push for policies that ensure safe, high-quality patient care.

Now more than ever, Delaware County needs an experienced healthcare professional at the table to make informed, thoughtful decisions about the future of our county’s healthcare system. Dr. Cooper will bring the knowledge, commitment, and leadership necessary to serve our community effectively.

I proudly endorse Dr. Cooper for Delaware County Council and look forward to supporting him throughout his campaign and during his tenure on the Council."

I am incredibly grateful for all of the work that PASNAP does to ensure patients get the best care possible in Delco and across Pennsylvania. As Peggy shared, this is a critical moment for our healthcare and I'm ready to work collaboratively with all of you.

Friends,

I’m so honored to have the endorsement for county council of all of my co-electeds who serve with me on Nether Providence’s Board of Commissioners. President Kait McKenzie , Vice-President Matt Garson , and Commissioners Beth Henry , Shaina Barnes , Robert E. O'Connor , and Candice Carbone Bainbridge . We all come to our elected service with different life experiences, perspectives, and priorities, but together we’ve been able to collaborate, build consensus, and invest in making our community better for all our neighbors. I’m proud of our work not just in developing our roads, sidewalks, and parks, but also improving on our townships financial health by rebuilding our previously depleted general fund balance and keeping our spending in line with inflationary changes. My run for county council is bittersweet, because it means I may not get to continue to serve with all of you.

Thanks for all you do,
Max
