From the Desk of the Town of Shawangunk Planning Board Chairman Ryan Reid:
In an effort to maintain a transparent and open Planning Board process, I would like to address several general questions and concerns regarding Application No. 2025-07, commonly referred to as “Eagles Roost.”
The May 5th 2026 Town of Shawangunk Planning Board meeting will remain at Town Hall located at 14 Central Avenue, Wallkill, NY 12589. The Eagles Roost application is on the Agenda as an appearance, not a public hearing (yet). They just filed new plans going back to the 31 lot single family project (the preliminary approved “Titus Plan” from 2015.) The purpose of an appearance is to create dialogue between the board and an applicant. This dialogue is important as it addresses questions and concerns the board has so that public is provided with a more complete application when it’s time for a public hearing. However, this also means that when an application is on the agenda as an "appearance", a section for public comment will not be provided at that time.
With that said, once the public hearing is set, the public and all other agencies will have ample opportunity to voice any and all concerns they may have regarding the application. This would include the ability to submit any comments in writing to the board in the event they cannot attend a meeting.
Based on the turnout of the last public hearing involving this application, which was the draft Environmental Impact Statement scoping session, it is more than likely that the next public hearing for "Eagles Roost" will be at a venue that can accommodate occupancy greater than what the town hall can provide.
Proper notice of any public hearings, along with information regarding the date, time and venue will be provided after the Planning Board has had the opportunity to review and comment on this new/old proposal.
Please feel free to call (845-895-3356) or email ([email protected]) the planning board with any questions, and we will try our best to address them.
