Let's get ready to read with Summer Storytime at the Crooked Tree District Library!

At 10:30am every Tuesday at Walloon Lake and Wednesday at Boyne Falls, we'll have a ROAR-some good time sharing stories and fun!

Remember, it counts toward our reading time when a grown up reads aloud to us (and for grown ups, audiobooks count too)!

This year's Summer Reading Program theme is Unearth a Story, and we'll be celebrating with dinosaurs and all sorts of prehistoric fun! Our first reading badge is available for readers to collect as of this Saturday, June 20th (and it just might have a dino on it)!

Registration for our Summer Reading Program continues throughout this week, so please stop by or give us a call at (231) 535-2111 if you have any questions!

Wow, wow, wow! Or should we just say, ROAR! What a turnout!

We can't say thank you enough to our Boyne Falls community for joining us for our first Summer Reading Program Foam Party kickoff at the Crooked Tree District Library!

We had a blast sharing the start of summer with you all!

For those who missed it, please stop by either branch to get registered for the 2026 Summer Reading Program!

Read for a minimum of 30 minutes each week, then stop by one of our branches and collect a new tag - the first one will be available on June 20th! At the end of summer, we'll have a big celebration and special prizes for all our readers!

And don't forget to register for our Build-a-Dino Summer Reading Buddy program! It will be on July 11th at noon at Boyne Falls and Walloon Lake! Join us tomorrow, June 11th, at 11:00am at our Boyne Falls branch, and register for this year's Summer Reading Program: Unearth a Story!

This summer, we're celebrating all things prehistoric (we're looking at you, dinos!), and it all starts with a party!

We invite you to grab a towel and join us with balloons, cotton candy, and piles of foam! Everyone is welcome!

On Thursday, June 25th, at 12:00pm, we will be welcoming local artist and art instructor, Kimberly Liedel-Ross, to the Crooked Tree District Library at Walloon Lake where she will be leading us in a Pottery Workshop for adults!

We'll be using the ancient method of hand building to create a wall pocket perfect for an indoor or outdoor display of summer flowers! Kimberly will take your handcrafted pottery at the end of the session to give it time to dry, and then they'll be fired in the kiln and brought back to Walloon Lake for pickup in a few weeks!

It's an excellent opportunity to work with clay, and spaces are limited! Register for this workshop by selecting the date on our website calendar at https://crookedtree.ploud.net/ or give us a call at (231) 535-2111, and we can add you to the list!

Looking for fun things to do this June? We have more than books at the Crooked Tree District Library!

At our Boyne Falls branch this Thursday, we will kickoff our Summer Reading Program with a Foam Party! Bring a towel and head on over at 11:00am! We'll get you registered and then on to the fun with balloon animals, cotton candy, and foam!

Stop by the next week for your first weekly reading prize and then visit us again the following Saturday, June 27th, when we'll have two Ann Arbor Hands-On Museum events - Rock On: Digging into Earth's Hidden Treasures at 10:00am in Boyne Falls and Crime Lab at 2:00pm in Walloon Lake where you'll solve a mock crime as a team!

The sun was shining over Walloon Lake and Boyne Falls yesterday as we kicked off the Crooked Tree District Library Adult Summer Reading Program! A big thank you to The Coffee Chariot for the yummy coffee (and tea!) and to our wonderful patrons who brighten our day in all kinds of weather!

We are still accepting signups for our Summer Reading Program bingo sheets! Please stop by either location to pick up a sheet - once you've filled out five spaces (or more!), you can turn it in at either branch to be entered in a gift card raffle!

And kids, school is almost out for summer! Your day is coming up soon! On June 11th, come to our Boyne Falls branch at 11:00am, and we'll get you registered for our Kids Summer Reading Program! We'll have balloons, cotton candy, and FOAM! (Make sure you bring a towel!)

We are looking forward to a happy summer together!

It's a great day to visit the Crooked Tree District Library in Walloon Lake! We have new books headed for the shelves today and coffee being served by The Coffee Chariot from 1:30pm to 3:30pm - you'll receive a free cup when you sign up for this year's Adult Summer Reading Program!

We'll continue the fun as the Coffee Chariot makes its way over to our Boyne Falls branch from 4:30pm to 6:00pm!

Let's celebrate the beginning of the summer months with a fizzy drink and a sit down in one of our new Adirondack chairs at our Walloon Lake branch!

Come on in today (June 1st)! We'll pour you a cup and help you find a book to settle in with! Or just sit back, relax, and see if you can spot our resident chipmunk and a finch or two!
