The Town of Walnut Cove invites our community to come together on Friday, September 11, 2026, for a special 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony at Fowler Park.

This year marks 25 years since the September 11, 2001 attacks and comes during the year our nation commemorates 250 years of American independence. We invite you to join your neighbors as we remember the lives lost, honor the courage and sacrifice of first responders, and reflect on the resilience and unity of our nation.

๐Ÿ“… Friday, September 11, 2026
๐Ÿ•• 6:00 PM โ€“ 8:30 PM
๐Ÿ“ Fowler Park
521 N Main St., Walnut Cove, NC 27052

The evening will include an invocation, Color Guard presentation, moment of silence, remarks from Mayor Nellie Brown and local elected officials, a Remembrance Walk, Remembrance Tree Ceremony, and meal service for veterans, first responders, and their families.

Please bring a lawn chair for seating during the program.
Twenty-five years later, we continue to remember those we lost, honor those who answered the call to serve, and stand together as one community.

A brand-new mural in the Town of Walnut Cove now welcomes visitors on the side of Double OO Pawn at 203 3rd Street, and it is a beautiful tribute to Walnut Coveโ€™s roots. The scene captures our agricultural heritage โ€” a mule pulling a to***co sled, a weathered log barn, and the Sauratown Mountains that have looked over this community for generations.

The mural was hand-painted by artist Kenneth Hollingshead of King, whose talent has given our town a long lasting piece of art that tells the story to everyone who passes by.
