The Town of Walnut Cove has received an increasing number of complaints from residents about unsafe ATV and four-wheeler activity in local neighborhoods, including speeding and riding on private property without permission.
We want to remind everyone that ATVs are not toys, and unsafe operation creates serious dangers for riders, drivers, pedestrians, and nearby families.
North Carolina law requires:
β’ Operator must be at least 16 years old
β’ Riders and passengers under 18 must wear helmets
β’ No operation under the influence of alcohol or drugs
β’ ATVs are only permitted on public roads in limited circumstances
β’ Lights are required when operating after sunset
β’ Riders must stay off sidewalks, paved highways, and private property without permission
Parents and guardians are encouraged to closely supervise young riders and ensure they understand the laws and safety expectations before operating any ATV or four-wheeler.
The Town asks everyone to be respectful of others, obey posted signs, and operate responsibly. Please help us keep Walnut Cove safe for everyone.
