In 2014, California Progress Fund backed Fresno City Councilmember Esmeralda Soria to help build the bench of potential young, progressive leaders to succeed Assemblymember Henry T. Perea.

Assemblyman Henry Perea, D-Fresno, the unofficial leader of the body’s powerful moderate bloc, announced Tuesday his resignation from the office effective at year’s end.
