A Slight (2 of 5) to Enhanced (3 of 5) Risk of severe weather is in place across southwest Missouri and southeast Kansas today. Two rounds of thunderstorms are expected this afternoon through tonight. Supercell thunderstorms are expected first, followed by a line of thunderstorms overnight. All hazards will be possible, including large hail, damaging wind gusts, and a few tornadoes.

02/28/2026

Unseasonably warm temperatures in the 70s along with low humidity levels in the 20 to 35 percent range and southwest winds gusting up to 20 to 30 mph will lead to elevated fire weather conditions again over much of the area today.

02/24/2026

A Red Flag Warning has been issued for a large portion of the area from 11am to 7pm today. Low humidity and gusty winds will create significant fire conditions. Fires can spread rapidly in these conditions.

đźš© From noon to 8 PM today, a Red Flag Warning will be in effect for Greene Counties and many areas surrounding.

Avoid ALL outdoor burning. One small fire can turn into a big emergency in these dry and windy conditions.

‼️⚠️ New Red Flag warning is now in effect for much of Missouri Thursday afternoon and early evening.
⚠️ The combination of low humidity, strong westerly winds, and dry vegetation will support dangerous fire behavior.
⚠️A Red Flag Warning remains in effect for parts of northern Missouri until 7PM tonight.

02/18/2026

The combination of gusty winds and low relative humidity values will support elevated to significant fire weather conditions on Wednesday and Thursday. Fires can spread rapidly in these conditions. Outside burning is discouraged except by experienced fire personnel.

At 5:12 AM this morning we were dispatched to a possible MVA due to an automatic crash notification in the area of Washington and Valley View drive. Due to being short staffed, we requested Willard Fire Protection District for mutual aid. Upon arrival a Greene County Deputy advised us there was a person trapped in the vehicle that had rolled on its side . We were able to extricate the person by cutting out the sunroof and they were then loaded by EMS and transported to the hospital. Special thanks to Willard Fire Protection District, Greene County Sheriff’s Office, Mercy EMS , MSHP and Pro Tow in Willard for everyone’s quick response on such a cold morning.
