ELEVATED RISK FOR FIRE SPREAD TODAY...

There is an elevated risk for fire spread today across southeastern Pennsylvania. Minimum relative humidity values will drop to around 25 to 35 percent this afternoon. This will be accompanied by northwesterly winds with gusts up to 20-25 MPH. These conditions, along with the continued drying of fine fuels, could
support the rapid spread of any fires that ignite, which could quickly become difficult to control. Conditions improve during the evening as the wind diminishes and the relative humidity increases.

Outdoor burning is strongly discouraged. Be sure to properly extinguish or dispose of any potential ignition sources, including smoking materials such as cigarette butts.

This forecast considers meteorological, fuel, and land conditions and has been developed in coordination with state fire officials.

Update - PennDot will be closing Blue Mtn Drive between Cork and Cedar and 946 between Dogwood and Cottonwood until the winds allow them to plow before they drift shut again.

Blue Mountain Drive just north of the elementary school between Cork and Wood is currently closed due to high winds causing snow drifting. Several other areas of the township are also being affected. There are detours around.
We are working with Township Police, Public Works, and PennDOT to reopen roads as soon as it is safe to do so. Please use caution if you must travel today and remain mindful of drifting conditions.

The photo is just illustrating the high winds today in this area.
