We are planning on conducting our annual Spring Aerial Larvicide application any time between April 22-30, 2026. Check back here for more specific dates/time as this is highly dependent on weather (no rain, light wind). This is NOT a spray, it is a granular product applied directly to the wetlands. For more information, and a map of the targeted wetlands, please see norfolkcountymosquito.org/aerial-larvicide-map.

Zoom and pan map to see the wetlands (shown in green) targeted for aerial treatment scheduled for sometime between April 22-30, 2026, weather permitting. The product used in this application is VectoBac GS, (label, SDS )a bacterial larvicide (bacillus sphaericus) on a granular corn cob…

Over the next couple of weeks, you may see our crew in your neighborhood. We are helping out our District towns by shoveling out buried fire hydrants as well as clearing catch basins so water will easily drain into them when the snow begins to melt.

We have decided to postpone the start of our spray season until the week of June 2nd. The weather models are indicating temperatures will be too cool next week for effective spraying. If you have made a request for next week, that request will automatically carry over to the following week so there is no need to re-submit your request.

Today we are continuing Spring Aerial larvicide application by helicopter. We will be finishing up some areas west of Interstate 95 this morning, but the most of the work will be east of Interstate 95 today. Please see https://norfolkcountymosquito.org/aerial-larvicide-map/ to see which wetlands we are targeting. This is NOT a spray, it is a granular product called Bti that only gets applied to the wetlands. Please see https://norfolkcountymosquito.org/products/ for more information.

A reminder to everyone to please make sure you empty any containers in your yard that may be holding water. Bird bath water should be changed at least once a week. This is the time of year that West Nile Virus becomes more prevalent, and with more frequent rain occurring, it is important to remove any standing water in those containers.
