The Huerfano County Planning Commission will hold a Public Hearing on Thursday, September 10th at 1:30 PM at the Huerfano County Courthouse, Commissioners’ Meeting Room, 401 Main Street, Suite 309, Walsenburg, Colorado. The purpose of the hearing is to receive public comment concerning Land Use Application LU-26-000154. The applicant, GroAway LLC, is seeking a conditional use permit for 1112 CR 628 in Gardner Colorado, Parcel number 16978.

US 160 Walsenburg West Resurfacing Project

Traffic Update September 7 through 11

No Traffic Impacts:
There will be no work Friday, September 4, through Monday, September 7, in observance of Labor Day.

Work will resume Monday, September 21, with mobile pavement marking zones.

REMINDER: Care & Share distributions will take place tomorrow, September 3rd, 2026 in Walsenburg and Gardner.

The Walsenburg distribution will be held outside the Road and Bridge Shop, located next to the Community Center from 10AM to 12PM.

The Gardner distribution will take place at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, off CO HWY 69 from 11AM to 1PM.

Community Wildfire Protection Plan Outreach Meeting: September 9th 5:00-7:00 PM at the Walsenburg Community Center 928 Russell Ave.

Join The Ember Alliance and the Huerfano County Office of Emergency Management for the final outreach meeting for the Huerfano County Community Wildfire Protection Plan. Get a chance to look at elements of the plan, talk with the plan writers and learn about the upcoming review copy and public comment period.

San Isabel Electric and Huerfano County are aware of a variety of power outages in the area due to the storm tonight. Crews are out assessing and working on damage to restore power as soon as they are able. Many roads have debris, and flowing or standing water. Please be careful of conditions if you are traveling tonight.

US 160 Walsenburg West Resurfacing Project

No Traffic Impacts:
There will be no work Monday, August 31, through Monday, September 7, in observance of Labor Day.

The project will improve approximately 11 miles along US 160 west of Walsenburg from Mile Point 294.4, near US 160/CO Highway 12 intersection, to MP 305.4, near Main Street in Walsenburg.
