Make a splash this summer while learning life-saving water safety skills 💙💦

Our Splash Into Safety program returns next week, bringing a mobile pool directly to families in Walterboro and St. George. Now in its fourth year locally, this impactful program has helped teach critical water safety skills to hundreds of children across our communities.

For just $5, children ages 5–12 will learn essential swim and water safety skills, including floating, treading water, and techniques that can help prevent drowning.

Chamber Chatter May 2026 Newsletter!

May was a month filled with activity, connection, and community spirit across Colleton County. Local businesses, organizations, and volunteers continued to show their commitment to growth and service, creating momentum that carried through events, partnerships, and new initiatives. We appreciate all of our members for caring for the community within Colleton County!

Exciting update on Boise Cascade's operations in Colleton County!

Boise Cascade, a Fortune 500 company and a leading manufacturer and distributor for building materials, announced plans in 2022 to establish operations in Colleton County, initially planning to invest $9 million and create 30 jobs. With permitting and due diligence now underway, this is now expected to be a $20 million investment. The company plans to begin construction this fall.

Located at 157 Risher Mountain Road in Walterboro, Boise Cascade’s new Colleton County facility will increase the company’s distribution capacity with direct access to the Palmetto Railways Salkehatchie Subdivision rail line, connecting Boise Cascade to the national freight rail network.

Looking forward to educating and teaching your kids all about fitness and survival skills! In this first week of camp, we will be covering the following topics:
First Aid/ Anatomy Basics
Land navigation
CPR Basics
Survival and Rescue
Agility and Mobility Drills
Military Style Obstacle Course
Basic Body Mechanics
Jumping Skills

Hydration Station is available to refill water bottles.
Healthy Snacks will be provided each day.
Lunch will NOT be provided, refrigerator to store lunchbox storage is available.
Please ensure athletes wear athletic/ running shoes each day.
Cool clothing/ athletic clothes are recommended. Please send sunblock and notify staff of any allergies.
Friday, Lunch is sponsored (pizza) by Lowcountry Nutrition. Please plan accordingly if your kid doesn't eat pizza. Inflatable obstacle course will be set up.
Friday will be a water day so have your child bring or wear their swimsuit under their workout clothes.

Thank you to Edisto Home Care & Hospice, LLC for hosting a wonderful Business After Hours last night. Members enjoyed a relaxed evening of networking, refreshments, and meaningful conversation while learning more about the compassionate services their team provides to families throughout our community.

We also appreciated the opportunity to hear from the Alzheimer’s Association, whose insights added meaningful value to the evening. Their participation helped highlight the importance of community partnerships and the resources available to local families.
