An Extreme Heat Warning and a Heat Advisory have been issued for portions of southeast Georgia and the South Carolina Lowcountry from 11 AM to 7 PM EDT (see attached graphic). High temperatures are expected to reach the mid- to upper 90s, with peak heat index values between 108°F and 116°F.

⚠️ This is life saving! We are honored to be one of the hosts for this event four years in a row. Unintentional drowning is preventable and sadly, is one of the leading causes of death in children according to the CDC. Together, we can make our community safer. The time is now!

It is a sad day in Colleton County. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family of Deputy Charles Strickland and the Sheriff’s Office.

It is with profound sadness that the Colleton County Sheriff's Office announces the End of Watch for our brother and colleague, Deputy Charles Strickland, who passed away today, April 22, 2026.

Deputy Strickland was an unwavering example of integrity and dedication, serving our community with courage and a heart for service for many years. His legacy will live on in the lives he protected and the deputies he mentored.

Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with the Strickland family, his friends, and all who had the honor of serving alongside him. We stand with you during this time of great loss.

Rest in peace, Deputy Strickland. Your duty is done. Your legacy remains. We'll take the watch from here.
