🚨 SCAM ALERT – PLEASE READ & SHARE 🚨

Cotton County residents, we need to make you aware of a fraudulent notice that is circulating claiming to be from the State of Oklahoma / Oklahoma County District Court – Traffic Division.

đź“„ The document threatens:

* “Final Enforcement Notice”
* License suspension
* Court action
* Immediate payment demands
* QR code for payment

⚠️ THIS IS A SCAM.

Here’s how you can tell:

* Oklahoma courts do NOT send enforcement notices like this demanding payment via QR code
* Threatening language and urgency (“FINAL NOTICE,” “NO FURTHER WARNING”) is a common scam tactic
* It references Oklahoma County regardless of where you live
* Official court matters are handled through verified court communication or in person, not random mailed notices like this

👉 DO NOT:

* Scan the QR code
* Send money
* Provide personal information

👉 DO:

* Throw it away
* Report it to your local law enforcement agency
* Contact the court directly using an official phone number if you have concerns

đź’¬ If you or someone you know received this notice, please let us know. We are tracking these reports.

97 Years Ago

Jefferson Davis “J D” Graham – City Marshal
City of Temple April 27, 1929

About 9:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 27, 1929, City Marshal Jefferson Graham, 63, removed drunk flour mill worker Harry Adair from a Temple pool hall and ordered him to go home. A short time later Harry Adair returned with a 12-gauge shotgun and confronted City Marshal Jefferson Graham in the street. City Marshal Graham again told Adair to go home and sleep it off. Marshal Jefferson Graham turned to walk away when Harry Adair fired the shotgun. The blast fired from less than six feet away struck the popular City Marshal in the back of the head, killing him instantly.

City Marshal Jefferson D. Graham was survived by his wife of forty-four years, Fannie and their ten children.

Jefferson Graham is buried in Temple Masonic Cemetery, Temple, Cotton County, Oklahoma.

Harry Adair was convicted of City Marshal Jefferson Graham’s murder and sentenced to forty years in prison but while out on appeal was shot and killed by City Marshal Jefferson Graham’s son, Jim.

Jim Graham was later acquitted of Harry Adair’s murder.
