The MLSC is proud to be featured in the Summer 2026 issue of Impact. Published by Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and The Jimmy Fund, this edition spotlighted more than $2.2 million in funding through the Accelerating Research through Collaboration (ARC) Awards, Women’s Health Initiative, and Education and Workforce Development Grant program to support the work of Dr. Jose Cancelas, Dr. Laurie Glimcher, Dr. Henry Long, Dr. Filipa Lynce, and the Continuing Umbrella of Research Experiences (CURE) program. These investments are helping advance monumental research in key focus areas including cell therapy manufacturing, osteoporosis, bladder cancer immunotherapy, and hereditary breast and gynecologic cancers.
Among the featured investments is support for Dr. Jose Cancelas’ Cell Therapy GxP Specialist Certificate program. Offered through Dana-Farber's Connell and O’Reilly Families Cell Manipulation Core Facility (CMCF), the 12-month paid training program is designed to prepare postgraduates for roles in the biopharmaceutical industry. Earlier this month, MLSC President and CEO Kirk Taylor, MD, delivered remarks to the program’s first graduating cohort, recognizing the trainees as they completed the rigorous program and prepared to enter Massachusetts’ growing biopharmaceutical workforce. From this inaugural cohort, several program graduates were hired by CMCF to meet its growing need for trained and qualified individuals. The MLSC has provided more than $350,000 in support of the program.
Since its inception, the MLSC has provided more than $28 million in total funding to Dana-Farber, supporting groundbreaking research and infrastructure that are improving patient outcomes in both Massachusetts and around the world.
