We are thrilled to introduce to everyone our newest apparatus addition to our fleet, it is a 2014 Ford F550 Diesel Mini Pumper known as “SQUAD 5523”. Our new-to-us SQUAD has the same capabilities as our other two Engines, just a smaller, more maneuverable version. It has a 1250 GPM pump, 300 gallon tank, EMS & Extrication equipment, Lucas Device (CPR), booster reel, crosslays and a smaller compliment of supply line.
This apparatus replaces our old Rescue/Brush unit and is a big upgrade with many more response options for us. It is and has been the most responded apparatus since we put it in service due to its many capabilities. It was purchased in mid-December from a FD in Michigan and brought home the week of Christmas. We put it in service in early January on a temporary basis until we could get some additions/adjustments/lettering added to it in Evansville. We got all that completed a few weeks ago and is now officially in service operating out of Sta #2. We still have some equipment to purchase to completely set it up to its full capabilities, but due to a generous donation from the City of Nason, a lot of that equipment is on it or on order.
The truck was bought with a co-op deal between the Volunteer Association (fire fighters) and the District Board and part of a plan to upgrade two pieces of apparatus, that plan is still in progress and hope to be completed in the near future.
We would like to publicly thank our board for believing in our idea and fully investing in it, this will do nothing but strengthen our FD and improve our services which directly affects the citizens we protect. If it wasn’t for the yearly support we get from all of you, NONE of this would be possible!! So on behalf of our entire organization, THANK YOU!!
