☀️ SAFE SUMMER IN WAMEGO STARTS NOW! ☀️

Summer in Wamego means bike rides, pool days, trips to the park, time with friends, and a little more independence for many kids around town.

That independence is exciting—but it also comes with opportunities to help kids build confidence, make smart choices, and know what to do when situations change.

That’s why the City of Wamego and the Wamego Community Foundation are launching Safe Summer in Wamego — a weekly summer safety campaign designed to help families have important conversations in a simple, approachable, and kid-friendly way.

Each week this summer, we’ll be sharing:
☀️ A featured summer safety topic
☀️ “3 Things to Remember” safety reminders
☀️ A FREE coloring/activity page for kids

This week’s kickoff topic is:

🟦 Smart Kids. Safe Choices. Strong Community. 🟦

This week focuses on:
✅ Knowing names, addresses, and phone numbers
✅ Identifying trusted adults and safe places
✅ Knowing when to call for help
✅ Understanding what dispatchers may ask during an emergency

📍 Wamego Public Library
📍 Wamego Area Chamber of Commerce kiosk space (available 24/7)

We hope families will follow along all summer long as we work together to help Wamego kids stay safe, confident, and ready for adventure.

Exciting and Prosperous things happening!
Just 'business as usual' here in the great town of Wamego!!

The Wamego Area Chamber of Commerce is excited to introduce the new Wamego Youth Leadership Program starting in fall 2026. Open to sophomores and juniors for the 2026–2027 school year, this program will help students strengthen their leadership skills, build meaningful community connections, and learn more about the people, businesses, and organizations that help Wamego thrive. The program is designed to inspire young leaders and give them tools to grow, serve, and make a difference in their community. Applications are due June 1st, 2026.
