The Madison County DMV is happy to announce that County residents will soon be able to use our office WITHOUT making an appointment. We have turned off all appointments for in County residents effective June 21st. Until that time, we will continue to honor the appointments already scheduled and limit in office traffic to appointment only. We will continue to use the drop box for as many vehicle registrations, renewals and license renewals as we can. Residents of neighboring counties will be required to continue to use our Madison County office by appointment only until further notice. Thank you for your patience as we work towards a transition back to normal.

For those who recently passed their Road Test for a class D License and were told they still only have a permit until they are physically in a DMV, here's what I was told by the Deputy Commissioner: .
"Here is some further information, hope this helps.

• Handwritten paper – there should not be a handwritten paper unless it is a handwritten scoring sheet, but the examiner should have the ability to print out the results on his printer and not use the 501. Attached is a 501.
• They don’t need to go into an office at all if it is a D or a DJ
• For CDL, they need to make an appointment at an office – it’s only a permit until then
• If they keep the receipt with their photo permit, they should not be ticketed (for 90 days)
• If it is an M or MJ, they also have a temp, but would need to go into an office to amend
• If it is an RV they need to go into an office also, but they also have a temp"

The Madison County DMV has spent the last two Saturdays trying to stay caught up on the HUGE volume of transactions we've received the last couple of weeks. We're on a five day turn around for our drop box. We greatly appreciate everyones' patience as we work hard to serve Madison County and surrounding communities. Tax season is always a challenge, but with the addition of the Stimulus disbursements from Uncle Sam, car sales are higher than usual.

**UPDATE**
Madison County Clerk Michael Keville would like to remind people to get those licenses and registrations renewed.

Governor Cuomo has extended licenses that expired after March 1, 2020 to be renewed by December 3, 2020. However, registrations that expired after March 1, 2020 are now not valid as of November 3, 2020.
Here is what you need to do:

- To renew a registration fill out the MV-82 and send that and a copy of your license in via mail or drop box to the Wampsville DMV.
https://dmv.ny.gov/files/mv82pdf

- To renew a standard or EDL license you can fill out a MV-44 and send that with a check for $64.50. NYS has extended the eye test portion for a year, but don’t forget to get it done afterward. https://dmv.ny.gov/files/mv44pdf

- If you have a REAL ID or Enhanced License, then you will need to schedule an appointment right away, Wampsville is already booking two months ahead. We hope the Governor will extend these licenses past the November 3rd deadline, but we’re not certain he will. These licenses usually require a new photo and therefore must be done by appointment in a DMV office. To make an appointment go to https://madisoncountydmv.setmore.com/bookappointment

You can mail items to:
Madison County DMV
PO Box 667
Wampsville, NY 13163
