Madison County is accepting applications for the Corrections Officer civil service examination.

There is 𝗻𝗼 𝘄𝗿𝗶𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗻 𝗺𝘂𝗹𝘁𝗶𝗽𝗹𝗲-𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝘁𝗲𝘀𝘁. Instead, approved applicants complete an online Training and Experience questionnaire evaluating their education, training and work experience.

The National Weather Service is forecasting 𝘁𝘄𝗼 𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗺𝘀 across the region today, with the greatest severe weather threat expected later this afternoon and continuing into the evening and overnight hours.

⛈️ 𝗥𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱 𝟭: Will move through this morning into early afternoon, bringing heavy rain, gusty winds, frequent lightning and possible hail.

🌪️ 𝗥𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱 𝟮: A potentially stronger round is expected to develop later this afternoon. The primary concern will be damaging wind gusts, although large hail, flash flooding and an isolated tornado will also be possible.

𝗠𝗼𝘀𝗾𝘂𝗶𝘁𝗼 𝗨𝗽𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗲: Following the report of a human case of West Nile virus in Onondaga County on August 20, Madison County Public Health is reminding residents to continue taking precautions against mosquito bites until the first frost. In 2025, a Madison County resident sadly died from an Eastern Equine Encephalitis (EEE) infection late in the mosquito season. This serves as an important reminder to take steps to prevent mosquito bites while mosquitoes remain active.

In Madison County, mosquitoes can carry diseases such as Eastern Equine Encephalitis (EEE), West Nile, and Jamestown Canyon viruses. These diseases are rare, but they can make you very sick and may be life-threatening.

Apply insect repellent before going outdoors, especially at dawn and dusk when mosquitoes are most active. Take extra care near swamps, ponds, and other areas with standing water.

🎉Congratulations to Deputy Director of Human Resources Shawn Prievo for being featured by NYS Association of Personnel and Civil Service Officers.

Shawn has dedicated 22 years of service to Madison County. Outside of work he and his wife of 24 years have raised two daughters .

After more than two decades of public service, his advice remains refreshingly straightforward: take a step back, ask for help, breathe, and keep moving forward.

This position provides psychiatric nurse practitioner services, including advanced knowledge of psychopharmacology and prescriptive authority for psychotropic medications, while working as part of a team to support diagnosis and treatment for clients of the Mental Health Clinic and/or inmates at the Madison County Jail.
