As temperatures rise and families head to the pool, safety should always come first.

๐Ÿ’ฆ Never leave children unattended around water, not even for a few seconds.
๐Ÿ’ฆ Designate a responsible adult as the "Water Watcher" and avoid distractions like phones or conversations.
๐Ÿ’ฆ Ensure pools are secured with proper fencing and self-latching gates.
๐Ÿ’ฆ Keep life jackets and flotation devices nearby, but remember they are not a substitute for supervision.
๐Ÿ’ฆ Learn CPR and basic water rescue techniques.
๐Ÿ’ฆ Encourage everyone to follow pool rules: no running, roughhousing, or diving in shallow water.

Drowning can happen quickly and quietly. A few simple precautions can help ensure everyone enjoys a safe and fun summer in and around the water.

Please take a moment to review water safety with your family and share this post to help keep our community safe this summer. ๐ŸŒž๐Ÿ’™

๐Ÿšฆ TRAFFIC TIP THURSDAY๐Ÿšฆ

Let's talk about the flashing yellow arrow... also known as the traffic signal that makes some people choose chaos.

A flashing yellow arrow does NOT mean:
โŒ "Floor it before that car gets here!"
โŒ "Everybody else has to stop for me."
โŒ "YOLO."

It DOES mean:
โœ… You may turn left.
โœ… You must yield to oncoming traffic.
โœ… You must yield to pedestrians.
โœ… You should make good life choices.

Think of it like being invited to the buffet. The food is available, but you still have to wait your turn. So the next time you see a flashing yellow arrow, remember: it's not a protected turn... it's a "proceed when safe" turn.

Your insurance company thanks you. ๐Ÿš”

โš ๏ธ URGENT WATER SAFETY ALERT โš ๏ธ

Berkeley County Sheriffโ€™s Office Marine Patrol, along with multiple Berkeley County Fire Departments, are currently responding to FIVE separate water rescue missions on Lake Moultrie.

A severe storm is moving through the area, creating dangerous conditions on the water, including strong winds, lightning, heavy rain, and reduced visibility.

If you are currently on Lake Moultrie, GET OFF THE WATER IMMEDIATELY and seek safe shelter. Conditions can deteriorate rapidly, leaving boaters stranded or in distress within minutes.

Our deputies, firefighters, and emergency personnel are working tirelessly in hazardous conditions to assist those in need. Please do not put yourself, your passengers, or first responders at additional risk by remaining on the lake.

We urge everyone to monitor weather conditions before heading out and to take all severe weather warnings seriously.

We will provide updates as information becomes available.

A few strong to severe thunderstorms with isolated damaging winds are possible this afternoon. Stay weather aware!
