Today, we honor the life and legacy of Congresswoman Kay Granger—a devoted public servant, a trailblazing leader, and a woman whose career helped pave the way for future generations.
Before serving nearly three decades in Congress, Kay Granger made history as the first woman elected Mayor of Fort Worth, Texas, breaking barriers and demonstrating that leadership is defined by service, integrity, and determination. In Washington, she became the first Republican woman to chair the House Appropriations Committee, overseeing some of the nation’s most important funding priorities and advocating for a strong national defense, veterans, and the communities she proudly represented.
Her career was a testament to the power of perseverance, civic duty, and principled leadership. Whether one agreed with every policy or not, her commitment to serving the people of Texas and the United States was evident throughout her decades in public life.
We extend our deepest condolences to her family, friends, former colleagues, and all those whose lives she touched.
